What to do with Vintage International tractors?

We had somebody up here who collected junk for years. When he died his sister found someone who paid her to take the scrap metal. Right now prices are down so that may not be an option, but if the place is filled with junk you might find somebody to clean it up for the scrap value. I would find somebody who is a bonafide business though... somebody with contractor insurance and who is willing to sign a contract, not just Bubba John with his 3/4 ton pickup.

Rotate the crank to the compression stroke and one pull up and good to go.

Actually attracts a crowd during the holidays with grandparents explaining the olden days...

My Grandfathered owned one tractor in his lifetime and it was also crank start.

The Cub has electric start but never had a battery to try it...

Now you see that is a different cranking style then I was taught,
bring it around to a compression stroke then with the crank at the top of it's rotation,
give it a good push down to the bottom of it's rotation with and open hand and just the palm
of your hand, repeat if necessary.
It was always stressed never grab and hold on to the crank, never try and pull it up and through
with your hand wrapped around that crank.
If it kicked back with your hand gripping that crank it would yank you and likely smack your head into the hood,
or dislocate your shoulder with an open palm and your thumb next to your fingers you wouldn't get hurt.

About the same thing as never gripping a steering wheel with your thumbs inside the rim,
those old non power steering tractors, trucks and cars hit a rock hard and that wheel could spin all the way to the stops before you could blink.
Dislocate a thumb or break it easily.

Ah, the good old days.

Someday before I die I will own a cub if it is the last thing I do. Rounded front and red.

I was taught on Model T Fords where you cup and pull up so less inclined to stumble into the crank going down.

The T's with the coil box sometimes just start by having the pistons in the right position and switching on the coil... best when it works that way.

The 05 Olds requires real cranking as in several revolutions and before it starts it sounds like an elephant wheezing.

Grandpa's crank diesel needed quite a spin on a cold winter morning but I don't think diesels capable of the same kickback...

The Cub is by far the easiest to crank and it really does run sweet...

The air fuel mixture are in the cylinder with the poston just past top dead center on the compression stroke and when the coil is swithched on the plug sparks and the engine starts. Is that how it works?

Yes...the coils generate the spark...

Looks like some Cub's as other have mentioned. Very popular small tractors. They should be easy to sell.

Might try posting on Yesterdays Tractors. Or web search for IH or Farmall collectors sites.

I had a Farmall-A for some time. It was a fun tractor. Looked like a bigger Cub. Towed Cub Scouts floats in local parades; it was a big hit. Especially when people saw me start it with the hand crank!
