Thanks for the input so far!

I am not looking to make any money from produce. But, if I thought I could, I may reconsider. I don't think I have time for marketing and sales or growing sufficient amount to turn a reasonable profit. I am most interested in just keeping the land healthy and to provide as much as practical stuff for my own use. I thought about some grains & such, but I don't know anything about growing it, harvesting, processing, or storing it. So, that is not likely.

I guess I'm stuck with just keeping it mowed, adding some fruit trees and maybe some smaller plot garden stuff like corn, potatoes, tomatoes, etc. On the other hand, I spread a few seeds a few years ago for oregano. It has really spread and seems perennial. If I had a whole field of that, I still wouldn't know what to do with it.

I had a moderate sized garden last summer. After supplying my family with all they wanted I had some leftovers when things were really going strong. I made $120 at the local farmers market one Saturday morning. The big sellers were watermelons, corn, and potatoes. Based on that, I'm planting lots more of each next year. Not really to make money, though that's nice, but it's a fun way to spend a weekend morning. We were out of there by noon.

Green beans were a good seller too, but there is alot more effort in picking enough of those to sell in bulk. The corn, potatoes, and especially melons have a really good return on what I consider minimal investment of time. It really helps if you're mechanized already.

I'm looking into the goat and miniature cattle things too for some spare land I have. I've decided on goats for the portion that includes my pond and septic field, mostly for weed control. I don't want to mow that area, for various reasons, and I hope the goats will keep the weeds knocked down enough without tearing up the septic field or mucking up the pond.

I'd take some of the materials from the trailer especially the alum siding and the windows and build me a small 9 x 11 foot storage building to house my diesel storage drum and pump set up in.
Nothing says redneck like a trailer in that condition! :p:p
After that disappears in sudden fire :eek: , I would keep the cherry trees, figure out a way to have a little revenue to offset the taxes (like renting it out, raising some sheep or whatever) and keep it like I would like the neighbours place to be until I had decided what I ultimately wanted to do with it JMHO

I did not think aluminum would rust like that :eek:

Just joshin about the siding :p:p
Is that drain pipe attached to a septic?? -- if it is I'd be tempted to keep and protect it just to not have to go through future hassles.

I understand that some of the siding is tin and some is alum.

Yes, that is pipe to a septic system. I plan to cut it and perhaps make it into my own private RV dump.

***I just put a deposit on an 8x10 portable storage building yesterday so now I don't have to build one.
The roll back is supposed to pick it up Monday Morning.
