What to do with an old pressure tank?

Lawn roller is a great idea.
Line it with fire clay, install a burner, and make a propane forge. Details on YouTube.
Use it for compressed air storage. As long as you stick to 140 psi or less, it should be fine.

As a roller, fill to 95-98% with 'clean' sand, (beach/play) add a few quarts of 'clean' motor oil (BTDT) say that you think is 'old/stale'. It'll work better that way than if water-fill, won't freeze, never run off balance like 'crete might, (you'd see when you hook up), and be too heavy to lend to someone* .. that would re-lend it and/or make you chase them down and/or go to BFE to get it back .. when it's 'easy' for them, etc. (BTDT x3)

IMO that option might easily prove a most worthwhile adaptation. Say with some bed frame, greasable pillow-block bearings (w/rain shields cut from bleach, oil, AF etc bottles) ... I suggest the 'tongue' length be kept 1 - 1 1/4 max X roller-width from axle center to pin or ball.

That said, ...

If a guy had 1) mounted NV optics, 2) hunting permission(s) or public land conveniently close, 3) 'suppressed' hunting tools, 4) can tell by smell people-food from coyote/possum/skunk/raccoon/buzzard-food, 5) has an amenable SO, and 6) knows how to cook pork .. he could just go online or ask here and find out what to make the grills & grates out of so they won't 'sag'. btw, IMO if you handle #6 well enough you might not need/want all the rest. :) ("Targets of opportunity"?)

* Why it might be better not to be made roadable. ... (BTDT :sneaky:)

I need to roll my new sod. Can I borrow your roller? Since it's so heavy, can I borrow your trailer and have you set the roller on it with your fel? 😇

Well, if your FEL will get it off & back onto my drive/roll-on trailer, you can show me the nearest Motel 6, and we can hunt hogs at night with my NV and thermal gear until you're done rolling sod .. IMO, couple days to a week should do if you'll give me $20 for gas both ways from MI.

btw, you don't know me from Ron Delagardo. If I offer something don't dare me .. unless it works for you too.

One thing for dang sure - the day after you throw it away - - you will think of a splendid use for it.

Cut one end off, add a lifting eye to the other, and hang it as a gong to call the cows or horses in from pasture? 😁

I've been literally kicking a big 80 gallon can about for some time now, an old pressure tank. The tank is water logged.

My only thought was to cut the top off and use it as a big container for recyclable metals (I've got buckets of such now and those are getting a bit unruly). Would probably have to weld on lift hooks.

What do folks do with these things?
We have a metal recycling place that we take this stuff to.

I tried that. It wouldn't gong. just bang. Probably way too short for the diameter, to be a gong.

Haul 'em down to the range and use for target practice.

I've got a plasma torch: it would be my first use of it (have had it for a while but have been too busy with other things to use it yet).

I wish that I had the time, and talent(!) for creating a piece of art: I have yet to acquire welding skills (also have a welder that is waiting for me to use). Don't think that I can come up with something quick enough to satisfy my desire to get the darn thing out of my sight (it's mingling with all my tractor implements, which are used to do the "kicking"!).
Be careful if you cut up a tank with a vinyl bladder inside. A torch can ignite the vinyl and give off some nasty fumes.
