I recently cleared 2 acres of pine trees to make a field. There is a 80 year old chimney in the woods, and I wanted to make the field around it, like a center piece. Well, one thing we grow really good in NC is rocks! I'd pick them all up, and after a good rain they would breed more! So I decided to start a wall going around the old chimney. In a few years, it may be as tall as the chimney! Photo is from my cell phone, all I had this weekend..

Should have used those trees to build a log house around the chimney.

We have the same problem with rocks in WV. I've been saving all mine in a huge pile so when I'm ready to add the garage, they will be good fill for the floor and help save on crushed stone.

I built a raised flower bed from mine. Big flat rocks are a nice touch.

Here in N.Alabama we have had an exceptionally good harvest on rocks. Ran the rock rake over the new yard 3 times had it looking good, until I decided to do it again a few days later. Must have left a few the first time, because they sprouted lots more. Guess I'll wait till after the frost this fall kills them off :D

I have an idea, next time you come to Florida, bring them to me, the bigger the better :D

Looks like the makings of a great outdoor fireplace. I'd make a stone wall to define a nice picnic/garden area. Add some rustic seating and you have something that people pay big bucks to create. Maybe a covered area at sometime in the future.
There have been some interesting ideas for firepits and outdoor fireplaces discussed here. Do a search on firepits to see a few.
