I think they're left handed smoke shifters.

Re: What the heck is this? (#1)

I don't know?
But If I had to guess, how about a gear for a planter. I had an old planter for a Farmall A that had a square chain and those sprockets look like they might fit. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Could it be a pulley for chain? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Re: What the heck is this? (#1)

Don't know what it is. Could it be a packer to compact a seed row? Looks sorta kinda like an roller wheel attachment I've seen on backhoes to pack dirt.

Re: What the heck is this? (#1)

Can't be for a chain/ sprocket, fingers are too long.

What is the writing cast onto it, can't quite make it out. Should be able to figure it out from that.

What's the little pipe that goes through the fork? Does this stop the wheel from spinning, does the little pipe rotate, ... ?

Re: What the heck is this? (#1)

THAT IS A FENCE STRESHER.

/ What the heck is this? (#1) *DELETED* #12
The fenc wire is clamped between two piecees of 2" angle iron
then the two strechers clamp to the angle iron.
the chain hooks to the end post and goes through the strecher
beside the sprocket and whe you crank the bar around that goes through the pinion shaft it winds the chain in like a chain hoist and tightens the fence

What I believe you have is a pair of wire strechers used for planting checked corn in the old days. There is a slot in them that fits on a stake placed at each end of the field. I have a set of the stakes that I use to make rows in my garden. When I was a young boy my dad still planted corn with an old 2 row planter using the check wire. That way you were able to cross cultivate your corn.

I'll be dipped! I could see it at work as I was reading your post! Thanks!! How old must these things be? Seein' as how come-alongs have been around for quite awhile....

this stresher has the potential for much more pull than a comalong does, their is also a cast iron clamp bar missing that attaches to the side

About the other two pictures...I wish there was some kind of boat club like TBN. BBN? That trailer actually belongs to a friend. We rescued it from the scrap pile. Would really like to know what that's for. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
