My new retirement place has a firepit in the backyard, but the cheap fire pan was rusted out. I knew exactly how to remedy that. I called my best friends/hunting bud's that run a pressure vessel shop and gave them the measurements. Presto, 1/4" thk 304 stainless steel! Heck, it probably weighs +200lbs.
These guys build some incredible stuff. I once saw them making a 304SS cryogenic rated vessel, with a 9" thick shell wall. It took somewhere around 2000lbs of filler metal to weld the head on the vessel.
