What the heck is making these holes?

No. Those are bumble bees. Black and yellow. Bald-face hornets are black and white. Bumble bees are fuzzy, too, while bald-face hornets are hot hairy.

I'm glad someone got it right. Carpenter bees have a hairless butt, and tend to fly around like nuts.. bumble bees just want flowers.. and don't fly very good..

Them's carpenter bees. Bumble bees are fuzzy, and don't drill holes. Carpenter bees have bare abdomens, and make perfect holes. All over my fence.
