It would be for jd4110 (1600lb.& 9.5ft long) and a 5' or 8' rake? Maybe even another implement? Tow vehicle for now would be S10 v6 4wd with a bolt on Reese "3" I believe, I used it with a borrowed trailer which towed fine around town....or I have a TrailBlazer (for sale) I could use.

What is the S10 rated to tow?

I'd probably look at 16 foot tandem axle trailers. Trailer weight and tractor weight, may be too much for your truck.

Landscape trailers are going to be lighter, but would limit your growth capacity. I buy more trailer than I need, so my trailer weighs 1900 lbs itself, but has gvwr or 9990.

How much are you planning on towing it over what distances? Personally, I do not think an S10 (or a Trailblazer) is a suitable vehicle for towing anything much bigger than a couple jetskis or a small fishing boat. Their brakes are not that strong and the narrow beam/track can make towing a "wide" trailer a fishy experience.

I would get something like a 7x16 with electric brakes. Be careful about the gate/ramps on landscape trailers, they are really not meant for the weight of a small tractor. You will probably want to upgrade your hitch also, but if you tow very often you will end up wishing for a half-ton truck anyway.

To be safe, I'd likely rent a truck whenever your going to haul the tractor long distances. That smaller truck will be a handful with 4000 plus pounds behind it....

A Trailblazer would do much better than an S-10..My BIL pulled his 21' 4Winns all over the place with one and never had a problem.

I don't think S-10's were ever set up for heavy towing...The 4.3 might surprise some as to what it can do, just S-10's are pretty light.

That is the maximum allowed weight of the truck, including all loads (passengers, cargo, and trailer tongue weight.) The information you need, though, is the maximum bumper-pull trailer tongue weight, which might be in the owner's manual. The number on the hitch is not necessarily the same, and you have to go with the lower of the ratings.

You also want to find the GCVWR which is the maximum vehicle+cargo+trailer weight. That number is generally limited by the transmission (or its cooling) design or brake system and it will be larger than the GVWR, but what you need is bigger than your truck's curb weight + a passenger or two + the total weight of your trailer and its loads.

I bet if you tell diamondpilot your truck's year and axle ratios he can help you find out your max numbers.

Realistically, those 1/4-ton trucks all have exaggerated mfr towing figures. The people who tow with them are usually just taking their boat to the lake and probably don't mind white-knuckling it a few times a year. Whatever you decide to do, get a trailer with electric brakes, and a long enough one to position your tractor on it effectively (in your photo the S10's rear axle looks overloaded to me.) Or maybe trade that blazer you are selling for a 1/2-ton pickup.

I justed checked U-haul's website and I could rent a dual axle 6x12 job with up to 2500 lb. cargo for $30.00 a day (2 days) not sure if that comes with any kind of a ramp? I guess I could do that for my sisters yard and then take my time looking for the right trailer/price?

How far to your sisters house? Renting a trailer and towing your tractor with it will help you make the decision for sure. I believe the uhaul trailers have surge brakes, just take it slow and stay off 490.....
