I need a disc for a TC30 with industrial tires, not sure what size or how heavy I sould get. I'm thinking of a King Kutter 6-1/2' but I don't know if thats the right size for the tractor. Right now I need it for plowed land but in the future it would be nice to use just the disc for tillage if I wanted.
Thanks for any advice - Mark Jourdan

If yuo are 4wd.. it should pull a 6.5 ok in most soils. If it is 2wd.. I'd go for 5/6' etc..

Of course.. type of disc, weight, angle of cut and soil type in the end will dictate what you can / can't pull.

Since you're running R4 tires, I think I would go with a 6 footer. It will easily cover your tire tracks and will pull easier if you get in a low traction situation. With Ag tires you could probably pull a 7 footer.

Your transmission choice might matter, too. If you have a hydro, it will not pull as strongly in dirt work as a gear tranny, but I think traction from the tires will be the limiting factor in how much disk you can pull.

If you have 4 wheel drive and loader (like most of us here), leave the loader on to maximize the pull you get from the front end or hang weights out front. Those wheels can only help pull when they are in strong contact with the ground.

Bootstraps,

Get the heaviest disk your budget allows, roller bearings if you you can. If you get a piece with plain bearing, keep them greased, and avoid running it in deep powder. Deep, loose dirt will get into the bearings and they won't last no time.

I have a TC35 gear tractor w/ R-4's, and it barely pulls a 5-1/2 footer. If I had a 6-1/2 footer, I would have to pull it so slowly that the smaller piece would probably be faster.

I am pulling a 7' disc with a Mahindra 2615 gear and R4's. No problems

I've got a TC35D four wheel drive and it pulls a 6 1/2 footer just fine.
