Kubota L3130 HST w/LA723 FEL
Box blade? dealer wants to sell me 6' Woods GB72. too big? would the 5.5' GB 65 work better?

Rear Blade? looking at 7' sounds about right?

dealer asking:
Woods GB72 box blade $800
Woods RB84 rear blade $ 500

and Woods BB60 cutter $1200...ouch

prices seem high considering I am trying to purchase tractor

Bill, in my opinion, much depends on personal preference and how heavy a material you want to move with the blades or cut with a rotary cutter. Are you going to have a front end loader? Personally, I sure wouldn't want to buy a tractor without it. Then I would want the bucket on the front end loader to be at least as wide as the widest point on the rear tires, and preferably just a little wider. Then I would like the box blade to be the same width as the FEL bucket. I'd want the rotary cutter at least that wide or even a little wider. I've never had one of the "rear blades", nor needed one, but if I did, I think I'd want it to cover the same width as the FEL and box blade when angled to the maximum degree that I intended to use it.

Now that's my personal preference; yours may vary. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Bose_man .
The rb 84 rear blade will work fine on your 3130 . I have an HBL 84 on mine and it works well . I also have the bb 60 "hog" . It works very well on my 3130 . John

bird, thanks for the advice, what you say makes sense

( Are you going to have a front end loader? )

yes, i am looking at the LA723 FEL w/ 72" bucket, so the 72" BB and 84" RB would fit fine.

do you think the tractor has enuf HP to pull the 6' BB with a full load??

any advantage to going to the heavier duty models??
the next model up BB would have the floating tailgate, does this help??

I grade our 3 mile long limerock road using our L-3130 GST with a 72" Bush Hog box blade (it also is excellent counterweight for the LA723 FEL) in 10th gear at 1,500 rpm @ 3.5 mph without any problem. If I get into a real washout section that needs alot of draw, I shift down to 7th gear and power out. Having a 72" bucket and 72" box blade works great.

I have the L3010 model w/ 6' BB. It works great with it. I have a medium duty one without the hinged /floating tailgate. I don't see the reason for those.

I have a 6' rear blade also. I'd be concerned about being able to spin a 7' blade without it hitting the wheels. 6' covers my tracks okay. I never tried a 7' though I did consider them when I was shoppin.

Here's our setup at work. As you can see, Shorty, our Scottish Terrier is supervising our progress.

(P.S. - The TNT is a real help too!)

Hmmm... can't seem to get the attachment to work. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

great photo...i see you have the R1 ag tires, how does it change the profile of the tractor??

i am pricing up the R4 industrial tires, but they cost a bit more. to save some money i could get the ags.

any advantage/disadvantage??

Bose_MAN.
The only advantage I can come up with is additional weight.
The HBL 84 does have an offset feature that I like to use a lot . As far as cost...I'd have to go through my paper work to give you the price I paid . With the way the price of steel has gone Up I'm sure it won't be inexpensive though /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gifI bought the heavier blade to try and dodge getting a box blade . )I'm in the market for a roll over boxblade now . I'm sure that the blade you are looking at will be fine ,considering you are also looking to get a box blade for grading , etc.
As far as the XT160 . I'm not at all familiar with it . Sorry .
John
