What should my rear ballast weigh ?

500 lbs because the lift arms stick out behind the rear tires, or that is what the ballast box is rated at.

Sorry but you can properly ballast a loader with wheel weight.

How are you taking weight off your front axle?

I would consider the weight behind the wheels to be counterweight.
That is exactly right,it counters the weight of the loader.

I don't think I was unprofessional at all:)

I 'm thinkin' its what the Kubota box is rate for since my lift arms at the pins are rated for approx. 1300 lbs.

Ummm...that is almost as bad as the unprofessional coment.

Seems to me weighted rear tires alone would do nothing to take load off front axle when using a FEL. Just thinkin' in terms of levers and fulcrums. Ballast box is effort arm, rear tires are fulcrum, tractor and loader is the resistance arm. This takes load off front axle. With weighted wheels alone you have : loader is effort arm, front axle is fulcrum, and from front axle to tractor rear is the resistance arm. This increases load on front axle. So weighted tires alone only prevents rear tires from coming off ground while increasing load on front axle.

You are so correct sir:)
You have to counter the weight the loader puts on your front axle.

I understand this.

Again, says who? Tell what it says in your book. Do you know how to calculate the load on your front axle?

Have you ever read your manual?

Never.
