Sorry for my complete ignorance. I'm still learning a lot about the hydraulics on this Yanmar F16d.

I will be mounting a loader and adding power steering within the next couple of weeks. I know that many of the loader installers just have you cut the main hard-line, using compresison fittings to bypass to the loader valve spool. But, I'm not a big fan of that.

My main hard-line comes out of the pump, directly into the 3pt spool (if you can really call it a spool?). There appear to be a couple free ports on the spool. I was wondering if I can come off of one of them (and probably return into another?) for my priority valve to split the circuit for my PS and my Loader spool?

Or, am I even luckier, and is it possible that there is a PS port already on the spool?

in this picture, the rear of the tractor is on the left side.

This is the same spool, opposite side. In this pic, the rear of the tractor is on the right

This is just a 3rd pic to try to help some more, taken from the front right side of the tractor:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

When I take number 2) off, there is what appears to be a small corrigated straw? Or it could be a very tight spring. Not 100% sure since I didn't want to remove it.

There doesn't appear to be anything in any of the other ? ports.

Under the port that I have labeled 2nd pressure releaf port, is a spring assembly like what's under the other pressure releaf port.

That is going to be a tough one. My guess would be the second relief comes into play for position control of the 3PH. Can you get a shop manual on that unit?

I could only wish for an english shop manual for this tractor. I was hoping that it looked similiar to somebody else's (Perhaps a John Deere?)

I think your 2nd relief is really your proportional flow divider...

Check that...

I think the 2nd relief is really your priority flow divider...
And #2 is your proportional flow divider
...:D

Thank you for the answer.

However.... some how I haven't level-set my knowledge of tractor hydraulics quite low enough...... Think Barney level here :D

Is the proportional flow diverter what controls the speed of the 3pt implements?

Assuming I do have some auxilary ports somewhere on this puppy... what are the chances they they will not be effected by the proportional flow diverter setting?

Thanks again for all the help. Lord knows I need all I can get

Update from info I've dug up from the Yanmar section of this forum...

Ports 3 & 4 are stamped with an O and appear to be directly across from each other. So, They should be "Out" ports.

Port 1 is stamped with an I, making that the "In" port.

I suspect in order ot use the O ports, I would need to place a plug inside of the port number 4.

OK - a couple of dumb questions....

Dumb question 1: what's the difference between a "priority flow divider" and a "proportional flow divider"?

Dumb question number 2: Assuming the either the priority flow or the proportional flow will give priority flow to one of the 2 "O" ports, which of the 2 "O" ports would get the "priority flow"?

thank you all! This is one great forum. I am completely humbled...

Well, after reading some clips from a Yanmar Shop manual for a different model, with a different spool, I have found this out:

*** I still don't know what port 2 is for  ***

1) I MUST insert a 1/4 - 18 Headless plug inside of port 4)

2) The spool has a "Main Relief Valve" and a "Safety Relief Valve". (Not a priority valve like I was hoping :( )

3) Port number 4) feeds the double acting valve spool

4) Port number 1) is the return from the double-acting cylinder valve spool "Power Beyond Port"

5) Port number 3) is for single acting cylinders

So, it looks like I will need an aux priority valve after all (as well as changing the layout of how things are plumbed).

I will update the drawing asap to show what I think I need now :)

thank everyone again & again for all your good information!
