Good to see someone who loves to study owls. It's hard to believe but most people don't know that there are two names for a group of Owls...the most popular is a Parliament of Owls. They can also be called a Stare of Owls. Owls are neat, eh?

Ken you should think about getting re-licensed, not that hard, no Morse test anymore, as for your equipment, I bet you could still have a lot of fun with it, of course CW would be the prefered mode most likely for older gear. I also have fond memories of the HW-16 and a handful of 40 meter crystals. I did not own one, it was the property of the club at the University I attended for a while. I hang out mostly on 17, 20 and 40 meters. mostly phone, but some cw and some digital modes too. Let me know if I can help you with anything.

James, When I was active, I made most of my contacts on 40 with a inverted V antenna and 20 meters with a beam and rotator. Dad always liked 80 meters but I never tried that band. I do think about getting re-licensed. I am sure I would enjoy the experience. I feel like I just don't have enough time to devote to it. The 4 Grandkids, the business and Church keeps me pretty busy.
