OP- There is no product sold with more Marketing wonk than motor oil.... and criticizing ones choice is akin to calling your sister ugly. LOOK UP OIL PERFORMANCE DATA. It's out there. This site is bit of an echo chamber; many here are enamored with Rotella. Know that T5 consistantly outperforms T6. There are much better oils though.
Also, know that diesel oils are formulated to deal with the soot and filth of a diesel engine. In the test data you'll see they also test significantly lower in PSI shear and thermal breakdown than modern automotive motor oils. Gas engines run hotter and under higher stress than diesels... air cooled gas engine requirements are the worst! MANY sources say "never run diesel oil in a gas engine". Will it work? Many here will say they've done it for 100 years without issue. Just know that doing it leaves a very small factor of safety.
I run the diesel oil with the best test data available. If it's good enough for a $300k combine and excavator... it's good enough for my compact.
