What kind of worklight?

I had the dealer stub wiring for worklights on the ROPS (both sides) I also bought a pair of Halogen 55 watt truck lights from a car parts house. Plenty bright, but cast a beam the size of a dinner plate at 50 yards. This would be fine if I was poaching deer, but not what I had in mind for work light. For snow plowing with a front and rear blade, what is the best kind of light to cast a BRIGHT illumination in a work area, say 50 feet or so. This is a L4610 Kubota with a 40 amp alternator. The wires are plumbed though the fusebox with an independent switch. suggestions would be appreciated. Regards, Treebone

Normally you'd use Flood... see if you can change the lens if the lamps are already mounted.

I actually TRIED one of the spotlights before I mounted it (in my old age I even read the directions first....sometimes...) so the lights are not mounted yet. I dont know if a refund is possible, but I am only out 25 bucks for the pair. The graphics you use in your posts are a great help John. Is this one of the lights that John Deere dealers carry?

Two popular brands used in our neck of the woods are Hobbs and Speaker. I've noticed Speaker mounted on a number of JD. {Think Quality Farm and Family carry them}

I have the larger 55 watt halogen Hobbs 5 x 7 Flood vs. the 3 x 5 units. It was about $27. for each lamp assembly. You can get less expensive units, but I plan on using them for a few years.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

This is what works for me a flood mouted pointing to the rear of the tractor and trapazoids out the front. The trap is in between a flood and a spot light in the way it throws the beam of light.

That's the same as I have, Gordon (but only one of each), that I got from Northern Tool. That works well for me.

That sure sounds like the way to go. I just picked up a halogen flood for the rear. Since I have no rear lighting at all, I will start with that, then go with the Trapezoidal for the front. (Since the 40 grand for tractor and implements, it seems trivial to try to put off spending 25$ more, but I better start somewhere.)
Now that that is out of the way, I thought I would mount these inside the folding ROPS since I'm in the timber alot. 2 questions: first, will the forward mount light be distracting or get hot since it is pretty close to my head? Second, what is the preferred way to mount, drill or clamp? Any other mounting suggestions considering the tree limb situation?

As far as mounting to the rops I wouldn't drill if possible. Just my opinion.

So far all I have on the 4310 is just the stock lights. I want to make a lid to mount to the rops for shade and protection in the woods. This is what I'll mount the lights to. In the mean time I'm going to hose clamp a couple of lights to the rops.
