I know there are a lot of George Carlin fans but in truth a lot of his routines were not all that funny...people laughed at a lot of his bits simply because it was "funny" to hear them spoken aloud...the same way people laugh when someone farts...

I've always been a fan of Johnny Carson but something that always irked me was the fact (I've said this before) Carlin a notorious pot/drug user was a common guest on his show...yet Carson refused to have Cheech Maron or Tommy Chong on...

I liked Carlin, Johnny, and Cheech & Chong. I am guessing that Johnny (his show/his choice) decided (reputation/business decision) that C & C were way too overt about promoting an illegal substance. My :2cents:

I've never been big on comedians, and never saw the humor of Carlin or Cheech and Chong.
As for repetition of songs; after hearing them over and over again for the last 50 years they all get old.
I've never been a George Thoroughgood fan and thought he only had 3 songs to his name. A couple of weeks ago I heard something which wasn't "bad to the bone" or "One Bourbon..." and realized for the first time that he's actually a pretty talented musician.

I'm guessing that was +/-40 years ago?

In the early/mid '80s I worked with a guy who, when the forecast was brought up would reply in similar fashion. Though as I remember it, his version was more like "Dark overnight, with increasing light throughout the morning"... Then again, it WAS a long time ago, and my memory is not what it used to be (just ask my wife if you don't believe me).
