Yeah! I am now the proud owner of a "new" to me, 2 year old J.D. X 350. Spent all day yesterday playing with it, and actually got my yard mowed! Trying to get used to all that new fangled stuff; it even has a gas gauge. On my LX172, you knew it was empty when it quit! It steers so easy, I can drink my beer and still make the turns...and to top it off, there is a cup holder built right into the right fender! Only thing it needs is a mulching attachment; if it has a radio (I listen to Rush Limbaugh) I haven't found it yet. Like my Dad used to say, "It'll do everything but suck eggs!"...and I don't even need a snowblower!

I tried to post a pic of the mower, but it must have been copyrighted or some such; it wouldn't let me post it "Invalid file"...so I thought this was appropriate. It's a picture of my neighbor; he has a Huskvarna or some such orangish thing.

Good for you... Gotta treat yourself sometimes.

Something we all should do on occasion
I do it more than occasionally... like buying a new or used tool I don't really need.

And one I heard today... "it will quickly pass... like a underwater fart in a wet suit"

Probably posted before, but after reading another thread (will not say which thread).....

You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time

I was at a camp ground one evening, and a guy at the next site was attempting to split some wood.

His wife called out, "Be careful. Don't cut your fingers off!"

He defiantly yelled back, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!"

I've been waiting for a good opportunity to use that line ever since.

Its just another day, another, crisis, another distraction. It never changes. Todays problems are no more concerning than the problems that have passed by over the last 400 years here on this soil. Its just that everyone thinks "todays" problems are the biggest, baddest, earth is going to end tomorrow nastiest problems ever. ...They are not... Its all relative, ..This too shall pass and next year we will continue to have the worst problems ever... and the following year and the following year and repeat. Its all just the background noise of life.

Great quote and so very true.

While not at all on subject, my taters are doing really well. Even the ones I planted in the straw bales.
I’m going to try that on some of mine... assuming that I can find straw this time of year. Also, yesterday while testing out my new grapple I went into the stump pile from when I had my field cleared back in 2009... and was amazed to find they are almost completely rotted down and I’m left with some really nice topsoil. I’m going to be using that for various planting projects... I once estimated I have over 100 yards of material in those piles.

I’ve seen people build wire cages for their potatoes and build up with the straw using those. Is that what you’ve done? They must be almost ready to blossom by now. The best time to eat ‘taters is when they are just out of the ground.. nice and sweet, and what peeling doesn’t come off when you wash them is still nice and tender. :licking:

"Thus the metric system did not really catch on in the States, unless you count the increasing popularity of the nine-millimeter bullet."
