I was rearranging refrigerator magnets the other day and came across this one. I have no idea where it came from so I have to blame one of the kids.

What did he know anyway?

I just finished Brave New World, written in about 1931. The book included a bunch of essays written by the author 25 years later, reflecting on his projections for the future. The essays were about 1955. In a nut shell he said he was about right but things were far worse than he thought it would be. I wish he could see us now!

In 1955, he used a Pepsodent toothpaste jingle as an example of how we are manipulated. You wonder where the yellow went.... I'd like to make him watch a bunch of class action lawyer commercials followed by anti depression pill commercials followed by "big" girls fashion commercials followed by the we can get you disability commercials. etc etc. The state lets big business do its dirty work.

Problem is, most everyone sees it happening, like slow motion but, what do you do?

We are too far gone... My dad was telling me the other day, my brother in law (who I haven't seen or talked to in 30 years) has developed copd from smoking his entire life and has been put on Oxygen. He also wiggled disability because with copd he can't be a janitor at the high school anymore. The guy is 60 years old and is also a recovering alcoholic... Now his choices in life are our problem.
