I have seen these type holes on a number of pieces of equipment including, obviously, my tractor. What are they used for?

It is where you place the clip / retainer pin when you remove one and need to keep track of it. Try it ... they work well! If you have a JD with the Quick Tach FEL Bucket look at the pins (big ones) holding the bucket to the FEL arm and you will see the hole like this one to retain the clips!

Junkman uses his to open beer bottles. Only thing is, walking around his yard one needs hazard duty pay. Lot's of glass everywhere, and now you know why he has fooam filled tires on the BX.

How does JD know if you drink your bottle with your right hand or left hand? They provide these bottle openers on either side for this contingency. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
