What is this bracket used for on a JD450 dozer???

I can't find any info on Google. I think it's for using a rear implement somehow but idk how.

I just finished rebuilding a 550 deere dozer and I don't recognize that bracket at all. My dozer has a 6 way blade and a winch. Any idea where that image came from?

I got the image off JDPC.com it's the only image I've found for this bracket. It's described as "side mounting bracket for rear mount equipment" whatever that means. I have the bracket just don't know what it's for.

Fwiw, I have a straight 450 with a manual adjustment blade and winch on back.

My 550 is a straight 550 with a 6 way blade and a winch. My guess would be that it looks like it hooks over the cross bar with the way that 90 degree bracket is. My lift cylinders mount to a bracket with a 90* pin in the cross bar. With that in mind, it doesn't appear to be long enough to reach the rear.

I just did some looking on JD parts at the 450 models. Under the 450c (450 models were basically the same frames up through the G I think). And it appears like it would be a weldable frame mounting for something. The description says they are "side mounting brackets for rear mounted equipment"

Yeah I saw the same thing. I haven't been able to find any info on how it's used or even pics of one mounted.

Might it be part of a 3 point hitch assembly?

Side mounting bracket usually refers to a backhoe attachment that has a plate mounted to let you slide the backhoe to either side for digging against walls or foundations. There has been a lot of attachments for these crawlers such as booms, pipe laying winches hanging off the side just to name a few. On the other hand I don't have a clue what it's for but it sure looks as if it has a special purpose.
