What is this bracket on my 2720 for?

What is this "green bracket" for? Its attached to the top link pin.

I bought this 2720 used and I'm not sure what this bracket is for. It only has a 62D with independent lift under it. I'm assuming the bracket was for some other implement that was sold separately because the previous owner died and the tractor was sold at an estate sale.





Here's a quick pic of the tractor after a quick washing. Its a very very clean unit! 2008 with 150 hrs! :thumbsup:

I would use that bracket to fasten a chain, likely to function in place of the top link on a floating attachment such as a rotary cutter.

Maybe a place for the PTO shaft chain, it a brush hog is used. Nice looking tractor by the way.

I agree it's probably not a JD part but I also agree it utilized to insert a chain attached to implement such as a rotary mower for chain to serve as a "depth stop".

Never,never utilize that green piece as a place to tow anything as tractor could easily tip over backwards!!!

Thanks guys. I was convinced it had nothing to do with a "lock up kit" for the independent lift on my 62D, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to check first!
I'll probably remove it.

The seat is a suspension seat I had on my previous 2520, so i swapped it over. I just drove my old 2520 with the factory seat, and OMG its like riding a brick in comparison. lol I never realized how great the suspension seat was until I didn't have it!

I shined the tractor up some and it shines like new. I found this one that was stored inside its whole life, so the sun and weather didn't get a chance to work at it. I can't believe the additional power the 2720 has over the 2520, WOW. Torque down low is much much better.

Is the suspension seat a factory option, after market purchase or home made?

I purchased it online and then a previous post showed just how to cut and weld a plate to make it bolt right in place!

The bracket is for check chains, should be one on the other side also. I had them for a woods mower that I use to have.
