Recently bought this little tractor (MF 1010 4WD std trans). I'm really enjoying the little tractor and it constantly surprises me how much work it's capable of considering it's puny.

My uses for it are landscaping and gardening. Mostly landscaping...which it's the perfect size for as it will get into tight places.

I have the following implements I use with it. Box blade, grader blade, rear scoop, tiller, boom pole, bush hog and carry all. I will be buying a middle buster/sub soiler in the near future. Does not have a loader.....sigh.

At the left rear of the tractor under the fender I found the following little gem. Previous owner only used the tractor for bush hogging his deer plot and had no idea what this was for. (He was more tractor stupid than I am).

The hose just loops around and is connected back. I assume one end is pressure and the other return, but which is which and what can I do with this setup? there are no valves or controls anywhere else on the tractor. The hyd pump is engine driven and supplies 3.5 GPM..

The setup you describe appears to be for a hyd remote setup, in which a log splitter or some other implement will use the fluid to operate . You can use that pressure and return hose set up to feed a 3pt log splitter, or any other implement that has a control valve with it.

If you follow the hoses back, the one that is connected to the pump is the pressure hose. The other hose should go to the 3pt.

Should you ever get a loader, you can use that connection to feed the Loader valve, and it should have a relief valve and PB to pass fluid downstream.

The steel line in the top left of the picture is the line from the pump. As you can see there are two hoses coming off the aluminum block between the PRV and 3pt case... what I'm trying to figure out is which hose is which?

I have all the manuals for this tractor and the aluminum block is obviously a accessory as it's not shown in any of the manuals including the parts manual.

I doubt the pump has enough A** to run a log splitter at 3.5GPM....LOL

Maybe a hyd top and tilt? for all the leveling and sloping I do that might come in handy, but identifying the ports on that block are essential for plumbing anything up.

I've added another pic that should show the high pressure hard line as well as the two hoses.

Your hyd power comes from pressure, and size of cyl. GPM's dictate speed of cyl.

If your tractor has 2500 psi, and you are using a 4 in cyl, you can push with the same force as larger tractors with pressures of 2500 psi.

I understand that. Slow is "bad". No need to run a log splitter anyways as I have no need for one.

Any ideas how to identify which of those hoses is coming out of the pressure port??

Disconnect the hoses and then place in a bucket and start engine. Pressure hose will spit out fluid.

Are there any markings on the adapter block, or arrow, or letters, etc.

Possible this was set up for connection of a Backhoe. Remove the QDs then put each hose in seperate bucket and run tractor for a few seconds to see which one flows more oil, that will be the supply form pump. This will make and ideal source to add an extra 2 spool valve for top & tilt links.

I'd guess, the hose, at the top of your #2 picture is the pressure line..... The line with the disconnect fitting (female) should be the pressure, while the other hose (male) is just open. In this case, they are just hooked together to keep dirt out. I do the same, when removing the snow plow.

Add: On my Ford NAA there is a block and "valve". When the valve is open, the same lift lever, as the 3pt, works the other lines.

I just tried to decribe a similar device on one of my old IH284's. Yours is very similar. Yours is sandwiched under the normal top cover plate, where mine replaces the top plate. Mine also requires that the 2 connections be looped together. On mine, if the aluminum block were to be removed and the top plate put on minus it, the top plate's cavities allow for the same looping of P to T. All the plate does, is bring those to the outside via the fittings. As far as I can determine on mine, the plate was used for running hose to a test device that a dealer/service would use to verify flow and test/set system pressure. My manual shows the test rig being used and it has a pressure gauge and a flow-meter. Apparently, someone simply left one on my tractor (2nd hand) and found it useful for simple rear hydraulics? I am in the thought process of adding a selector valve ($57) to allow either looped or rear QC fittings to be chosen by pushing a manual spool's knob.

I know this doesn't help you decypher which is which, but it may help you understand how it works? In other words, I am saying if you don't need rear hydraulics, I am betting you could remove the aluminum block and use shorter bolts to install the cover by itself, thus eliminating the need for the loop hoses.

N8ghz...

That may be the case here. There are no markings anywhere on the block that I can find.

The female disconnect is the pressure line, thanks TMajor!

Now I need to have them replaced as both have the outer rubber worn off of them from rubbing on the 3pt.

This is a very small tractor (18hp) so finding a place to mount controls is going to be a challenge. It has no ROPS so can't mount anything to that...LOL.

T&T sure would be nice for the work I do as it'd save a bunch of time getting on and off the tractor.

Thanks everyone for the replies and advise!
