What is the deal with apostrophes from mobile?

Why do apostrophes format so funny from mobile. It is really odd to have to modify the way I speak to not use any contractions.

I would: I壇

It is: it痴

They have: they致e

Do not: don稚

Same thing with desktop Windows 7 / Firefox.

My own typing doesn't need correction but quoting anything, even a prior TBN post, puts special characters in place of several different characters including quotation marks.

One thing I have noticed is it is right in someone else's post and when quoted the garbage shows up.

It has been discussed before, the board uses ASCII (which has 128 characters), but those are Unicode characters (Unicode has 137,439 characters).

Vertical apostrophes (') are fine, it's the slanted ones that are a problem. There are various operating systems which change the vertical ones to with slanted ones when you reply to a post and this causes the formatting to get messed up.

The mobile programing must be Apple friendly, even the slanted apostrophes show up correct.
