Comparison What is the best brand of tractor?

I wouldn't consider the E series from JD, I like JD a lot, I love my local JD deal but I hate there E series. Cheap is an understatement, is like the big box store "D" mowers are to tractors.

Really? I don't get that impression about mine at all. Nor do I hear any bad press from my dealer. I bought mine for a very good deal from an individual. While at the dealership applying for an extended warranty, the salesman offered to buy it from me. So I guess we shall see. I have been running tractors for 40 years. I wouldn't call it "cheap" by any means. At least not yet.

Just as the title says what brand in Your Opinion is the best brand of tractors and why?

Let's say 120hp and under so most brands that have compacts but not big Ag tractors are still in the competition.

That is easy. The closest dealership with the best support.

The 5075E?

I was looking at the 3038E with a FEL.

The FEL is not quick attach where the rest of the competing tractors were, the fuel gauge was in the hood instead of on the dash. which would bother me and the tractor was light, I don't remember how light it was but I remember it was quite a bit lighter than the rest.

As a tractor the E series is prob just fine but as a only tractor compact, I wasn't impressed.

Also the deck was plastic on the 3038E, when I climbed up I could feel the deck flex a little, again not a fan when the rest of the competition had metal decks. Idk if deck is the right term, footrest? Idk.

The 3038E had a 2 range HST trans, another point against it for me.

I wouldn't call it junk by any means, I just don't know anything about the E series longevity but compared to the rest of the 30-40hp "Economy" compacts if you will, the E series seemed like it was cheapest made, in MY opinion. Other results may vary.

I'm really glad I ended up with a JD, I really really like the local JD dealer and I love my cabbed 4320, it far exceeds what I need it todo. And seems like it will last a very long time for me.

I'm kinda partial to JD, that's what my grandpa and dad always had, most of the neighbors have Kubota compacts, I liked the L3901 I looked at, what I didn't like was the loader it was paired with. That pushed me to Mahindra but found a used JD instead. So all is good I guess, I paid the same for the JD as I would the others I was looking at, I gained a cab and about 15 more HP buying used.

the compact E series definitely feel cheap and i wouldn't recommend them to anyone. the 5E series is much better tractor.

I'm with Farmer John,
The JD 3038E weighs 2,175! That's a lot of plastic. I too noticed the deck and step, flex when I went to get on an E series JD. I was also turned off by the fuel gage location and the inability to quick release the FEL.
After lots of research and evaluation of CUTs and weighing my needs, I kept ending up looking at the 1526 shuttle. It's smaller than the JD 3038E but weighs 400lbs more. The 7 yr warranty wasn't easy to ignore either. Plus the Mahindra will take front end implements where the others all require the more expensive version to get that feature. I seriously looked at the New Holland Workmaster 33, but like with Farmer John, my dealer didn't really seem too interested in selling one. Needless to say, I just took delivery of my 1526 shuttle yesterday and can't wait to start tilling the gardens.
