Just finished doing this on our property. Use the Offset disk to cut and turn the dirt, then use the tandem disk at a 45* from how you ran the Offsets. If you still have some fairly rough ground or still not quite happy hit it again at a 45* from the last time. Follow behind this with a Land Plane if you can get your hands on one. I went over mine 3x at a 45* angle from the last time. My land is not laser level, but it took out all of the sharp dips or hills and gave my land a good even flow. It will take you awhile with that size tractor and 8 foot implements but it will get you there. Btw, my tractor is a 60 HP, same frame size, and all my stuff is 8 also.

The pictures I added are from the beginning where you couldn?t stand just easing through it on our Polaris ranger, first pass disking (I did disk it twice the season before), grading with a Land plane I built, to the final grade where we are installing fence for the pasture. I am only converting 14 acres on our place to pasture so I know you have your work cut out for you. Good luck and keep at it.

Edit***. Tip, use the land plane when the dirt does not have a lot of moisture. So try to plan disking and leveling a area with the plane when the dirt has little to no moisture and have it leveled before a rain after disking. My land plane with cutting edges will still load up with dirt if conditions are not right for the material to flow, some build up is good to fill low spots but to much build up, well you obviously know what that does from your post. Haha

You may have all the equipment you need already. Just reconfigure your drag so the main beams will act like grader blades spilling material off of the end. The present 4x4 tubing should be cut off and welded to the top of the main beams.

Something like this:

My 8 foot Harley Rake will move mountains. But it's best if the ground has been worked up. A much better plan would be to have a dozer do the Bull WORK and then let the Harley do it's magic.

I have a portion of a field, maybe a few acres that is deeply rutted from attempting passage when it was wet. I would not even think of using my Harley to try and level it. It's all overgrown for starters. I need a disk first!

Thanks for the Pics and reply's. I'm thinking the cheapest route will be modify the Land plane I built. Continue to disc and drag the land plane on the section I want to smooth out that year. And look at repairing the 4 yard dirt pan of a friends to fill in the stump holes in the pastures I will not disc for a year or two. It would be nice to get the dozer to get a good start, but it just dirt. Well its grass with a little weeds right now. I bush hog what the cows don't eat. But SLOWLY due to the sump holes.

3 point 7 shank ripper followed up with 3 point tiller or box blade if you don"t have to many stumps.

I would say the accessory you are gonna need is a time machine,,,
by the time a 72HP tractor does anything significant to 120 acres,, you will be too old to have any use for the land,,

I am serious,, the tractor is light on horsepower,, and tractor weight,,

15 acres would be a SIGNIFICANT project for a 72HP tractor,,,

We farmed 360 acres and largest tractor was 85 Hp 2wd so not sure how you figure 72 hp won稚 do anything in his lifetime

Yeah, it would be nice to have a dual wheel 150 hp tractor. But I would not have much use for it after that, besides bush hogging if needed and the 72 hp will already do that. I know it will take longer with a 72 hp vs 125-150 hp. But with me running cattle on it, I don't need to do more than 20 Acres a year or I will run out of Grass. Buying Bigger Tractor/equipment, Dozer rental / or hiring someone, or paying land leveling crew for only 20 Acres each year will be pretty pricey. But it would be quick. Makes me think about how the Old Timers cleared land back in the day with Mules. They would have Loved a 20hp tractor:, If they could only afford it.

It is a WHOLE LOT different farming with a tractor,, and leveling land that had trees on it,,
I worked on a farm where I plowed with a 1973 (year model) John Deere 4630,, I could moldboard plow 90 acres per day with that tractor,,
so, yes I agree you can farm with a 72HP tractor,,

Leveling is radically different than plowing, or disking,,
