It pisses me off when delivery companies can't deliver within their time window. Put an order into Walmart last week, you know the place that moves things around and if you can't find it, need to look in Automotive, Pharmacy, or pet foods. Delivery was supposed to be delivered Thursday, but Fedex ground moved delivery to Tuesday. Because of the snow storm delivery got delayed, So after more delays claimed it was supposed to be delivered Thursday the original day. Which they missed again. And then rescheduled for delivery for Friday with a delivery window of 4-7pm. 7 came and went no package. Fedex said they would reschedule again. My package got delivered yesterday afterall. 10:30 pm last night.

Is that like nonetheless?
Not at all! Nonetheless is a legitimate word, meaning "just as importantly".

Irregardless is not a word. People say it when they mean "regardless", or "without regarding the thing just said".

My mother used to use "irregardless", and I never gave it a second thought when I was young. Then one day, probably around middle school, I had that "wait a minute..." moment. :ROFLMAO:

"I could care less" always bothered me more, personally. I always want to tell those people, "okay, go ahead... care less!" :p They mean, "I couldn't care less".

I've always had prompt delivery from Walmart, Amazon OTOH is all over the place, often as not along the line of what you describe.

I think this varies, locally. Amazon is at my house an average half-dozen times per day. In fact, when I woke at 6am to a blanket of snow this morning, there were already tire tracks in the driveway and an Amazon package on the porch. In the probably 1500 packages we receive from Amazon every year, there are very few problems, maybe I could even count them on one hand.

Our big problem is FedEx. They always deliver something somewhere, but it's often my neighbor's packages at my front door, and me getting random calls from the next town over, where my package landed on someone else's doorstep. When they actually do visit our house, they drive thru the garden at the end of the driveway, or on my lawn at the bend in the driveway, nearly every single time. Somehow, much larger trucks negotiate those obstacles with zero difficulty.

Scheduling package pickups is even worse. I can nearly always get same-day pickup from UPS, or next day if I'm scheduling in the evening. But FedEx is usually several days out. On Thursday evening, I had to schedule a FedEx pickup, and their earliest pickup slot was Monday afternoon! Why do they need 4 days to send a damn driver, in these days of instant communication, when they're already passing the house a few times per day?!?

Another few:

  • People that use apostraphes inappropriately, i.e. to "make" something Plural.
  • People that use nonsensical words/phrases such as "round circle" (and a bazillion other redundancies), "irregardless", etc.
  • The use of any superlative when discussing objectives. For instance Best restaurant. Really - so you would go nowhere else unless you had to...
I really, really try not to become the grammar police, as tempting as it is. I wish I had a dime for each time someone here on TBN refers to the mechanism that stops a vehicle as the "breaks". I guess we could blame some of this on autocorrect, which can turn almost any technical discussion into gibberish.

As far as your "best" comment...don't know if I'd call it a peeve or just pointless is online articles ranking the "best" burger chains, supermarkets, etc. Many/most of these chains are regional so they don't even compete. Doesn't do anyone any good to see that Publix is rated higher than Hannaford or King Soopers (for example), neither chain has stores even remotely close to another. Other than Walmart, is there any grocery chain that isn't regional?
Likewise for a west coast burger chain if you live in Ohio.

Amazon doesn't do deliveries anywhere near me, it's almost all via USPS. My issue with them is it's often close to a week before my order even gets filled/shipped! And by "shipped" I mean it's in the carrier's hands. I don't know where the nearest warehouse is to me (I think it's in Mass.), but almost everything I order from them ships from 1000 mi or more away.
Obviously it's different if you live in/near a large city. Dunno if they intentionally drag their feet to push you to pay for Prime (not gonna work) or what. Their service used to be much better pre-Covid.

I didn't realize that either UPS or Fedex will do residential pickups. The UPS facility here is only "open" an hour or so a day, Fedex has better hours, but they're further away. Thankfully, Staples does UPS shipping.

my problem isn't with Walmart. My issue is the failure of Fedex. And Amazon can be hit and miss, for my use of Amazon I have a business account so have designated delivery days which most of whatever I order comes through the mail. But Amazon has pushed back delivery days even for Prime membership.

I change my own oil.... easy enough and it gives me a chance to look things over. The worst thing about it is resetting the oil change reminder!

Had the steps written on the inside of the OMs for our car and truck because I struggle so. Couldn't find reset at yesterday's oil change... after 10 minutes found it in a completely different menu heading! I recently had a factory trailer brake controller installed... they said the job included software updates. Moved the oil reset? Really?

3 menus deep and STILL not intuitive... how about putting it at the TOP of the menu! Ahhhh... feel better.

They do offer "pickup", but there's a hefty fee for it where I'm at. The hardware store about 15 minutes away does UPS dropoff and shipping, which works well for me.

What make vehicles do you have? Ours are all GMs ( 2 '19s and a '21), and it's straightforward. Some older vehicles were a bit convoluted, key on with engine off, pump gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds, clap hands, pick nose, all set.
