The biggest ripoff of them all, IMO, is SiriusXM. Crazy high subscription fees, not per person, but per vehicle! Imagine paying a separate cable TV bill for each TV in your house! Then on top of that, scroll the channels, and it seems to be more commercials than content. I’d argue the only way that company is even in business is by tricking people to forget ongoing subscriptions, by offering it free on each new vehicle.

I haven't personally verified this, but I think Siruis XM has sort of gotten around the per vehicle subscription requirement. Their entry level plan is car+phone. If other vehicles support carplay, you can use the phone to support multiple vehicles. I still think it's a waste of money, but I bought a subscription for my wife for her birthday.

I finally canceled my cable TV service when they added a decryption device that had to be rented for each TV.

I've been putting off scheduling my colonoscopy, so they sent me a kit, where I'm supposed to sh*t in a box and mail it in for analysis. I could post a picture of that, if it would help. 🤪
Cologard? My wife has this extreme dislike of colonoscopies (don't we all?), so she had her doctor order one for her as an alternative. Came back positive, so she still had to get the procedure done.

It's nothing I think is worth paying for either, but like you, a subscription has been my wife's birthday present for the last 5 years or so. If I'm not mistaken, it also comes with streaming...maybe that's what you're thinking of. Individual receivers still need their own separate subscriptions, but I guess that's one way to get around it. Surprised they haven't found a way to prevent it.

For my own vehicles, I'll just put together mixes and play them from a flash drive. A better mix, and only songs I like.

You're right. I had forgotten that, because back when I had SiriusXM, I did not have an unlimited data plan on my phone. So, using the phone for streaming would have been more expensive than just buying multiple XM subscriptions. But now that unlimited data is damn near standard and cheap, I could just stream off the phone for all but my primary vehicle.

That said, my last year of using XM, it seemed to have gone to more commercials than actual content. That was the nail in the coffin for me, when I chose to cancel it.

They actually tried charging me several months past cancelation, to the point where I had to get the credit card company involved, to block their charges. The funny thing is, they also started sending me "come back! 3 months free!" mailers, at the same time I was battling with their billing department over past illegitimate charges. :ROFLMAO:

What channels have commercials? None of the ones my wife listens to do. I don't drive her car often, but I've found very few channels that hold my interest for very long, like the old song...57 channels and nothing on.

I think our subscription comes to just a bit under $10/mo. More than it's worth to me, but if it keeps her happy... šŸ™ƒ
If you're paying more than that, you need to try to cancel...they'll give you a decent price rather than let you go. If you're persistent enough, you can get them to make the reduced rate so it doesn't expire after a year.
Number and length of commercials on a paid for streaming service.
I've never had a paid streaming service, but some of the free ones have fairly limited commercial breaks, Roku channel and Plex come to mind. Sometimes you can get thru an entire show with only a couple :30 breaks.

What channels have commercials?
Nearly all of the talk and comedy channels. I didn't really use XM for music much, since we are blessed with an excellent FM music channel (WMMR) here in the greater Philly area.

Pet Peeve - web site designs for retail stores that have so much stuff in the header, they only show a little sliver of the products at a time so you have to keep scrolling. Like trying to view the site through window blinds.

We don't watch much TV. Wouldn't it be nice if Direct or Dish you could choose, say, 5 channels at a lower rate instead of $100+/month for "top 120", paying for 115 useless channels.
Now we have a small antenna getting 35 free channels which is OK except "peeved" we don't get a couple we'd like to watch.
The satellite companies would get thousands of new customers if they did that for a good price.

Yeah... not that hard these days to have a header that auto-hides when you scroll down, and conveniently reappears when you scroll up. Some sites have been doing that for what... 10 years now?
