Modern pet peeve: YouTube reaction videos, especially those titled "hears __ for the first time!", when __ is Led Zepellin, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, or any other band that no one on earth can pretend having not heard before.

Or the ones that say something about 10 one hit wonders of the 70's and Boston makes #2 in their list.....that tells me it was compiled by some bot in India, programmed by a Zoomer living with mom and dad.....

Back to JW. My younger brother is one. Haven't seen him or his family in 30 years. They are not allowed to associate with family who are non-believers. Had 3 of his flock turn up to convert me. and i steered the conversation around to selling their daughters into slavery and prostitution. (Exodus 21:7-11) plus others. Asked them if they believed and practiced what was in the Bible or were they selective in what they wanted to believe. Never saw them again.

I had a JW girl in my class from kindergarten to HS graduation. She was a sweet girl and still lives in my hometown. I believe she left the JW in her twenties or so and ended up divorced.

School was awkward for her and her brother. They weren't allowed to celebrate anything or attend extracurricular activities for school. She went to her first basketball game her senior year and you could tell she was overwhelmed with excitement.

They weren't allowed to celebrate their own birthdays at school like other kids, so at the end of the year she would bring cupcakes or something for a non-descript treat. She also sat in her chair during the pledge of allegiance which had to be difficult.

We had a few JWs in school like that.
One of the guys was the biggest dealer of non-prescription drugs in high school.
His female cousin was a great lay.

We had a teacher in our High School who became a JW with her husband.
They threw their kid out when he was 16 because he would not become a JW.
I was in the same classes as him, luckily one of his uncles took him in, but he was in a different school district for his senior year and I lost touch.

The JW "church" backed them up on this and the school could not do anything to help.

How awful can a religion be that dumps their children onto the street ?
