You'd think that with a $199 Ring camera, the county could not only eliminate the expenses associated with this, but actually make money of anyone illegally dumping.

They have cameras, so I don't understand why they can't catch the offenders. Guess I'm going to have to attend a county commission meeting and raise a few questions as to what's going on.

If anything, you'd think they'd conspire to slow things down to get voters to get after their congress(wo)men to increase funding.

Problem is, doesn't work that way. Management will just try to make the existing crew do the work, even though they are understaffed. If you look at the numbers, they could get a significant decrease in the mail they have to handle by getting people to pay bills online.

There are almost a million households in the KC area. Just about every one pays 5 bills per month, which is actually 2 pieces of mail (the bill and the payment). So, if they get everyone to auto pay, that is 10 million less pieces of mail they have to handle each month by paying employees overtime.

I'm glad the option to pay bills online exists, and I'll use it from time to time myself, but autopay? No way.

The only autopay I allow is my phone bill, and that's because they originally gave a $5 discount. That changed, now the only way I get it is if I give them a debit card... I'll shut the phone off before that happens.

I was extremely resistant myself, but after having our phones and internet shut off a couple of times because of unpaid bills we never got, just decided it was better to just set it up with autopay on the credit card. Never have to try to remember if I got a bill or not.

Has actually worked out well, don't have to spend time on paying bills and don't need stamps. It's on the credit card, so they don't have direct access to our bank account, which is what I was most leery about.

I have a spreadsheet with all of my bills, when they are due and on what Friday they will be paid. I usually start setting it up in December for the following year and by May I have everything scheduled for the year. This year I pushed it forward to next May 1; that's when I will be getting my last check from my current job.

What are they going to do when they catch them? You can send all the fines you want but you’re just going to make more trash for illegal dumping because they aren’t going to pay them. Are you going to lock them up in jail for 30 days for illegal dumping? Thats a fair punishment i think but we all know that’s not happening.

I like @Jstpssng's solution best, but knowing some are unlikely to show up for that duty when ordered, it's worth remembering the law has a standard prescription for this, already. Failure to meet one's obligation, usually initially just a simple fine, results in late fees, then additional fines, then increasing punitive action. Yes, they may eventually end in jail, but only after a long series of increasing attempts at lower penalties.

Then they get to explain to their family and employer that they're in jail because they wanted to save $10 on dumping their garbage.

My peeve is the people in our neighborhood who mow their yards on the lowest setting on the mower. Then they leave the ugly brown grass laying there until the next week. You cut the grass to even it out, not to lower the height. People stop and tell me that my yard looks better than any in the neighborhood and ask me what I do and I tell them that it is mowed as high as possible. Usually at the Bad Boys highest deck setting. Then they go home and scalp the grass off their own yards. I mow once a week, just like they do.

And the guy across the road has had a low tire all year. It's on the right side and when he turns it mows an inch or more lower on that side. Come on man, have a little pride.

Off my soap box now and on the my summer job of hauling grandkids to various things their parents have signed them up for but have no way of taking them.
