What is some of your Pet Peeve's

Many years ago my wife & I were eating at an all you can eat buffet near Richmond, Va. Back then I could eat a few plates and there was this guy eating alone, probably 60s, hefty but I've seen bigger...guessing 5ft 9 & 260#.
Seemed like a nice guy, I would get 2 desserts & he would walk by the table showing me he had 5 desserts.
After we ate the guy keeled over with a heart attack & died!
I couldn't eat a 16 ounce steak now if I tried.

Obviously it was the desserts that killed him. It had nothing to do with the steaks.

Sounds like a good way to going doing what you love?

And you had to eat the 72oz steak...plus baked potato...and side veggies...all within 1 hour! Or else pay for it all.

Been there...but didn't try View attachment 1850904View attachment 1850905
When I drove truck back in the mid 70s, we used to stop there when we went through Amarillo on the way to CA. They had a pen out back with a buffalo in it. A wall had the signatures of people who had eaten the 72 oz. steak meal. I tried to get my driver/BIL to try it, but he didn't think he could.

Back in the 70s was passing thru Texas panhandle on a road trip and saw a billboard offering a steak dinner for free if you could eat it all. Forget if it was 60 or 72 oz. I'm guessing it came with multiple sides that you had to finish as well.
I've always had a big appetite, but even in my 20s (which I was at the time) not sure I could have done it. Wasn't hungry at the time I saw the BB anyway.
It seems it's a skinny little woman who does it.
One time some of my family came over for a BBQ.
I had some thick beauties to do.
Finished they were large dinner plate size. No room on that plate for any sides.
My niece who I thought might be lucky to finish a 3rd of one polished off the whole thing and made a good dent in a second one I thought I'd have the next day.
If she hit the scales at 100-105lbs was questionable.
Me, 220lbs had a half and gave up.
She also kept pace with the sides. Baked taters, salad...

I was thinking the same thing. But if I was going to die under some random 25 year old female, I think I missed my chance, long ago. :D
Quitter!
I give it a go aboot once a week.
Met one last summer who I think was on a mission to kill me.
I'm surprised she didn't have tats on her for the guys she put under. Kind of like the WW2 planes that showed missions flown and enemy planes shot down.
She went by Candace.
Let me tell ya, Candy was Dandy.

Competitive eating champions always seem to be some skinny guy from Japan or other southeast Asian country, never the big fat guy from Alabama or Texas. There must be a physiological reason for that.

Modern White Goods; frig, stove, washer/dryers all seem to have wifi features. Who in their right mind would want to tie these in to their home network?

We don't have any WiFi connected kitchen appliances (yet), but I usually tie anything that doesn't need local server access to a guest WiFi. Most routers from services like Verizon come with a pre-configured guest WiFi, separate from primary WiFi SSID, which keeps them segregated from the rest of your network.

edit: lol... just noticed auto-fill put "guess" for "guest".
