Was just reminded of another one - paper clip manufacturers that don't properly adjust/sharpen their shears, so that the ends of the wire have a little nib on them that catches and tears the paper.

All people don't realise all the time that I'm always right.
Low IQ idiots.

Car Transport dispatchers are lying bast*rds. Here's how communications go...at 9 am
Driver will pick up the car between 11 and 1. At 1:00 driver will be there at 3:00. At 3:00 driver will be there in 25 minutes. At 3:30 driver will be there at 4:00. 4:30 driver shows. Thanks for wasting my whole day.
One time I had a dispatcher tell me the driver was late because he had a flat tire that took 2 hrs to replace. When I finally saw that driver I offered my condolences on the trouble he had with the flat tire earlier... He looked at me funny and said. I didn't have a flat tire.
See line #1.

Could be extended to all trucking dispatchers. I had one show up over the summer at 6pm, while I was hopping in the truck to take my son to a baseball game. They were due to arrive at 11am, IIRC.

I actually felt bad for the driver, they had issued him a truck that broke down on the way, and then I think strung him along on when the repair truck would be arriving at his location. If the dispatcher had been honest with either of us, we could have both avoided some frustration, that day.

Up here in Ontario, Bell, Shaw and many other providers will give you a repair time of between 8 and 5. Really, you cann,t get any closer to at least morning or afternoon ?

Here is another reason why I hate ABS. I got stuck halfway up a hill trying to get into work this morning... the snow covered the muddy ruts beneath.
It took about an hour to winch myself out, then I had to make it the rest of the way up. I drove back and forth to pack a trail, then tried to make the hill. The rear end kicked sideways so I hit the brakes...
ABS kicked in and said "You don't really want to stop do you?" By the time I stopped moving the truck was crossways in the hill, with the rear end nearly in the ditch.

There's been a few times where I'm pretty sure I could have stopped when/where I wanted to if I'd been "allowed" to lock 'em up. Might have flat-spoted the tires, but I would have stopped.

Everybody thinks so, especially those of us who's driving predates ABS. But over and over studies have shown we can't.

Actually, if you read your owner's manual it states "under certain conditions, ABS will increase your stopping distance."
When driving in snow, sometimes locking the tires allows them to cut through the snow to a hard surface underneath. I've seen times when two tires on one side were on snow, the other two on bare tar.
You may as well open the door and drag your feet, it'll stop you quicker.

With ABS on snow it's benificial to run in 4WD. In an extreme stopping situation you can use your parking brake to transfer the stopping power from the tire with the least traction so that all 4 are working.
