Happy Christmas is coming memory association.
Oh no! They'll almost NEVER say "Christmas" in TV ads now! It's always "Huge Holiday" sale, "Happy Holiday's", etc... What other religion buys "holiday" gifts?

I applaud the rare exception.

It's represented by the snow, so they don't have to say anything.

... and TV commercials of Christmas morning with big red bows on top of cars. I'm relatively wealthy, but have never given nor received a new car for Christmas. Is this really some fraction of the car-shopping public substantial enough to justify an entire new genre of advertising?

It's more about the car being like a worthy, amazing gift.

I doubt a large percentage of sales are done this way.

Just like all the cool fun people drink coke/pepsi etc. They want you to feel good about buying the product.

I did the red bow once...~40 years ago, on a Ford Crown Victoria...had it sitting in the driveway for my wife on her birthday.

She had visited her parents, so I picked her up at the airport in my old Ford truck...even stopped to wash it on the way to the airport!

We went to get in the truck to head home and the door locks were frozen...neither would turn. Tow truck driver was right there and he had the wing window open and the door unlocked in 20 seconds.

Then went to start the truck and the inside ignition would not turn either...and I started to laugh, but had to catch myself and stop.

The whole time I had been trying to use the new Crown Vic key to unlock the truck, and then start it...and I couldn't tell my wife about it till after we got home and she found her new car in the drive.

I know this should go in the 'stupid stuff I've done' thread.

Bears that don't clean up after dining.

Pot smokers that reek of pot and act stupid. Those are generally the ones who also b***h about the price of groceries, gas and other necessities, but think nothing spending $100 a week on weed.

That weren't the bear's fault! Rather, blame the slob who was too lazy to separate his trash from the bear's dinner.
Had that happen a few years ago...found a bunch of shredded trashbags in the woods behind the house with garbage scattered everywhere. Traced it to a neighbor who'd rented a dumpster while doing some renovations. Apparently the place he'd rented it from told them it was OK to throw household trash in there too, which his wife interpreted as food scraps, empty cans, etc. were OK too. In bear country.
City people, sigh.

Just like Millennials whining they can never afford a house, while sipping their second $7 coffee of the day and staring at their $1400 iPhone on a $100/month contract. Their coffee and phone expenses alone are half a mortgage payment.

I remember my first two years of being a homeowner very well. There were months I had to decide whether I was going to repair the chimney or eat something better than Ramen Noodles the next 30 days. But where there's a will, there's a way.

Coffee is usually free at work, and while not lovingly prepared by your personal barista, it got the job done for many years. An older model phone on a $15/month plan also gets the job done, when you're willing to prioritize.
