I really am asking seriously. Take a look at the attachments from etrailer's webpage:

The first is "tire with wheel"
Second is "tire"
Third is "wheel"

There is no mention of "rim". What is a rim and wheel to you guys?

We usually say rim to refer to the wheel because we have solid wheels on cars etc. but technically it's the outer part of the wheel. Think bicycle wheel = rim + spokes + hub.

Alot of tractors have 2-piece real wheels.

There is a rim, and a hub. Rim + hub = Wheel

Here are rims https://www.google.com/search?q=tra...ved=0ahUKEwjQutC-zsXKAhUCSiYKHZsIC50Q_AUIBygC

Here are hubs = https://www.google.com/search?q=tra..._AUIBygC#tbm=isch&q=tractor+rear+wheel+dishes sometimes referred to as dishes

Aluminum alloy wheels are typically one piece, called a wheel.

Steel automotive wheels are made from two pieces, the inner hub and outer rim, but welded together to make one piece. "Wheel"

In the industry, wheel and rim both mean the same thing. They have the pictures labeled correctly.

Somewhere along the line, young people started referring to the wheel , incorrectly, as a rim. Most people over maybe 40-50, still call it a wheel, correctly.

It was about the same time as they all started saying, 'I was like.....", wearing their ball caps backwards, and walking with their pants nearly to their knees.

looks like a tire with wheel, tire, and wheel to me.

+1

My 25 year old son and I have been debating this since he was old enough to drive.

The older guys will remember split rims, used on large equipment, buses and trucks. The wheel on these is the entire assembly. The base component is a rim and the part that holds the outer bead on the rim is a lock ring. I've always called the assembly either a wheel or a rim and the same for solid wheels. If anyone talking to me about their wheels says wheel or rim I know what they mean.

Is there an industry standard single word name for "tire with wheel"?

Drivers have a spare "tire" in their trunk not a spare "tire with wheel", so the terminology is inconsistent.
(I'm nursing a cold and sore throat so I cannot do more useful things so I am asking those in the know about this issue that has made me curious ever since I built my trailer. You'll all probably glad when I'm well:D.)
