The swing shift is just an electric over hydraulic shift on the fly range shift activated on the main shifter. You shift it by pulling back into neutral and bumping the left or right end of the neutral gate. There is still a non sync range change on a separate lever but it is a different set of gears.
The swing shift plus models also come with a 2 speed powershift using a thumb switch on the shifter that acts like a gear splitter in forward gears.
