Ran across one for $850.00 in good shape no bends in metal blades look ok and gearbox has no signs of leakage. Is this a good deal?

I'm asking because the local dealer has the 1500.00 razorback BH6 for special $1,199.00 W/1 yr warranty on unit and 3 yr on gearbox. I will be using it on an Allis-Chalmers 5050 which is about 52 hp tractor and only light brush and very small saplings 1 inch or less.

If I was looking for one, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase one in the condition that you described for that price, I happen to have that exact mower and it is a lot more mower than the Razorback.

Agree also with LineMan I just sold recently my SQ 172 .Sold my L3400DT /BH/ and toothbar as a package deal . SQ172 has a 65 hp rated gearbox and 10guage steel houseing I believe . Just give it a good look underneath . Also bush hogs that come with chain kit cost more new than with standard deflect shield. In my first pic you can see mine had standard deflect shield . BTW both gearbox's are made in china.

I like mine. I paid $1800 new if I remember correctly so it's not unreasonable at that price.

The other thing is the guy who is selling the SQ172 sold his tractor and only has a skidsteer now so I can't test the unit out un'till I get it home. I just don't want to put down 850 and find out the gearbox is shot, or the pto shaft is bad.

Can't you haul your tractor and trailer with you to test it? If you buy the cutter it would be easy to load.

If it's been abused it would show, the shape that you described it in I doubt very seriously that the gear box is shot.

No I don't have my large trailer for the tractor anymore, I have a small 2 ton trailer only.

I have that same Bush Hog mower and beat the snot out it for eight years and only broke a couple of shear pins.Good buy at that price.On the other hand my new Landpride broke the first time I used it;not the mower's fault mine.
