What is 580k worth

Please give me your opinions, thoughts, warnings, etc. I am considering purchasing a 1987 580k. It is currently owned by a town and is being listed by tender. It is has 1200 hours on it. I have no details at all. I don't know if it has 4x4, extendahoe, how many hp, or any issues. It is listed as as is where is with no details. I contacted them by email and asked for details but did not receive any reply.

I plan on using the machine mainly for moving large round hay bales, and for digging work around my place. I have found machines with lower hours between $10,000 and $25,000. I have not found any machines with near this many hours.

is this a auction sale ?
580k are good machines and 1200 hrs wont be to much as the machine is owned by a town so it should of been maintained real well !
i hope you are going to test it first and not buy it with out testing it !
that way you will know if there is any thing is wrong or any leaks !
price will depend on who else wants it and location has a lot to do with price
a few years ago at action i saw a 580c go for over $16,000 and it was not the best of shape !
4x4 in good shape should go for around 18,000 - 2x4 for 16,000 IMO
look around on different sites to see what they go for in different parts of the country !

I bought my 2x4 580k last fall for $7K. It's high time and rusted in places but it works. One stabilizer leaked but I was told to just put it down for storage without an hydraulic pressure on the rams. That stopped the leak.

Thanks guys. It is a tender and I was thinking about submitting my bid without looking at the machine. I could go see it about three hourse drive from me. I am waiting to hear back from the town.

Just a little word of caution. I work for a large State "government agency." we also put things out for sealed bid from time to time. It has always amazed me how the winning bids for much of this equipment seems to go to either the guys who work there, or a close relative. I'm Just saying.

Was just curious how this turned out. Personally I would put in a bid real low unless I had a chance to look it over. I bought an international fire truck from a local town for less than scrap price. Not bad for a running 4wd truck. Usually when a town sells something it has little to no trade in value as they usually replace equipment and trucks with a newer version.

Bid is not due till early January. I am going to phone the town and see if anyone has any info. I will submit a bid, but likely a real lowball.

I sold a 580 Super K two years ago for $12,500.
It was NOT 4X4 or extendahoe.
It had ROPS, roof, and windshield, but not a full cab.
It had two buckets for the hoe -- 24" & 12"
High hours 6K+ -- but a new (not rebuilt) motor.
It was a strong runner and a brute of a loader.
