What internet portal do you use?

FireFox changed their default font/zoom level a little while ago. It's been a pain to keep it at the level I wanted so I switched to Chrome. What I don't like about Chrome is how easy it is for malware to infest it. Conduit search engine comes to mind. I think I have it licked but I shouldn't have had to take the steps I did to banish it.

The wife loves Yahoo. I got tired of having to enter my password every time I turn around and the movie theaters kept disappearing along with my Dow Jones picks.

I liked igoogle for the bookmark feature. You can still get to your bookmarks but I don't like the way they are displayed.

I have been trying to find a simple page like igoogle for a while. Just found ighome.com last week and like it so far. The only reason I ever ended up on Google was that Yahoo kept changing the page layout all the time. With ighome I can set my page up with the same gadgets. It also allows you to select what search engine to use. I wonder if Google thought of that when decided to shut off Igoogle? I am trying the different search engines now.

Thanks for your suggestions. I already had a Yahoo page from years ago, so took a look at their new MyYahoo. Not as slick as iGoogle, but it did have an import feature to allow you to import all of your gadgets and settings from iGoogle. I tried it, and it worked, so I'll use this as my portal until I find something else. I'll be looking into your suggestion of ighome.com and also see what Bing's offering looks like.

Interesting comments. I didn't know what an "internet portal" was. I'm still not real clear on it.

I use Chrome for web browsing.
Thuderbird for email
Skype for chat
Gravity for Usenet
iTunes for music
AVG for anti-virus
Spyhunter for spyware

That pretty much covers internet stuff, except for downloading every A/V codec in sight. For instance, the County Surveyor's GIS database requires an add-in from Adobe to work that pretty much takes over the browser window. I have AVG Secure Search set up as the default search engine.

Lots of confusion between "portal" and "browser" on this thread.

Here is a pretty good definition of "portal" and some choices, if you want a portal. I never saw the point.
