Looking at the size of those vent holes you were having a very unlucky day, what's the chances.

I was using the FEL to compact some construction trash in a roll off container. I caught the hydraulic line protective cover on the side of the container. It tore the bracket off and some of the lines as well.

I was bushhogging my hill going downhill, slowly. Got to what I thought was a small sapling, but turned out to be hiding a 3-4" tree that wasn't visible. That 3-4" tree hit the front end axle right at the left tie rod assembly, tearing the tie rod joint right out of the tie rod end.

When I called the local Kubota dealers to check on price ($200!) and in stock availability, everyone of them told they had never ordered one before. So I guess I am first in at least something!

The comments from Eric and Xfax are appreciated! I too, need to get cracking on adding some under armor to my Kubota. Any good threads on the subject? PM me if you'd rather not mess this thread up.

Thanks,

Boy are we learning some good stuff today.

I advise every new member I "welcome on board" to read the safety threads. Whether a newby or a seasoned ole goat stuff can happen in a nano-second.

EricTheOracle;3978871 I had a sapling come up from below and get into the engine's radiator fan. .[/QUOTE said:
I had a fallen dead branch kick up an do the same. The cloud of steam resulting from the fan meeting the radiator clued me in.

While bush hogging, I have hit a small block Chevy engine, tires, metal siding, high tensile steel wire, rocks and put a branch through one of my side windows.

Eric, I dont know the timeframe that this all occurred but that was a fair amount of bad luck.. Glad you sorted it all out and if you have a thread about your guards I am interesting in seeing them.. I have two quick disconnects kind of protected on the bottom but not above being pulled in half while going through heavy brush. I think making something for that is a direction I need to take

The timeframe? Between 22.0 and 50.0 hours on the hour meter. All of it is in the "My NX6010" thread on the buying Kioti forum. I post photos from my FB account, and I've noticed that FB slowly changes their address after awhile, and so the photos are drying up, but the stories are still there.

Eric, I have discovered there are a handful of posters to TBN that are impressive in their experience, skills and commentary. You are in that group. Your ability to articulate, on a variety of issues from finance to tractors, is a bonus.

Whether I find myself in agreement, or not, I always appreciate your contributions to the forums.

Thanks, I've observed from my time warming bar stools that guys like myself are a dime a dozen. Nobody notices because problem solving and tinkering skills don't translate onto resumes. No series 7 or 66 and it is assumed that you know nothing about finance, for example. So we cruise under the radar and yet the most interesting FOREX and high frequency trading conversation I've ever had took place across a bar with the brother of Lightspeed's CEO.

First post on these forums. This happened just this afternoon. Was instructing son on where to park riding mower, while I was on the BX....not FULLY stopped. Well a split second was all it took, tooth bar turned my trucks tire into shreds. Am just glad it wasn't a body panel or something worse.

It's really great to be able to give your son such a dramatic/graphic demonstration of safe tractor operation, eh?

My wife may not be actively watching me when I'm on the tractor, but she always seems to clue in to mishaps, like the gouge in the lawn, the hole in the side of the shed, the dent in the car or that I came back from the woods without the tractor (which happened twice in 2014).

I am tired of replacing lights and grills due to frequent mishaps. I hope this expanded metal will reduce the damage, cause I know I won't stop running into stuff.
