i guess it all started when they went from an open forum to a member only thing, i registered but this is the first message i have posted since then and will probably be the last, i dont want to be bothered with passwords and logins. then afterthat they got all uptight about the off topic disscusions, if people dont want to read the off topic stuff then just dont read it, after that then i look the other day and see that they changed the front page of tbn, now there is no longer the most popular topics list. i liked to be able to quickly check on what was the popular things, not have to search thru dozens of forums. i used to spend alot of time on this site looking thru the forums and occasionaly posting things, now i have other sites that are more worth my time in my opinion, i dont mean this as an insult to this site, just that i imagine there are others who feel this way also and eventualy we will lose visitors. i guess i am not technicly part of the compact tractor crown since the only tractor i own is a FORD 8000 ( 105 horsepower) but still tractors are tractors and all is related, or so i thought, seems that the compact tractor people are a bit more finicky about stuff. am i the only person that sees things this way?

"i dont want to be bothered with passwords and logins"

Neither do I. My 'puter remembers what to do. I just click, and here I am............chim

PS: Time is just around the corner that makes me a wee bit envious of your cab.

yea chim, i sure do like the heated cab, i just bought the tractor recently, i had been using my fathers naa for everything but wanted something bigger and with live pto. i paid 4000 for the tractor and am happy with it so far. as for the password thing, how do you get your computer to do that, i also go online at work so i dont know how it would work there

As far as the password thing goes, I think that is selectable in the setup of the account. I never have to enter one.
The accounts keep the noise out. There's no one posting "Your mom smells" or somthing like that that has nothing to do with any of the topics.
I understand that off topic posts were taking up a lot of bandwidth which is expensive for a hobby site. So it was either no off topic stuff or more bandwidth.
I can't explain the redesign, I never spend any time on the home page.

Just log in the first time and then don't log out.... just close your browser. The next time you come back to the discussions you will still be logged in and won't have to re-enter your username and password. Make sure your browser is set to accept cookies and as long as you don't delete your cookies this website will automatically recognize you when you come here.

As Muhammad said in the <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbynet.com/cgi-bin/compact/showthreaded.pl?Cat=&Board=support&Number=210528&page=0&view=collapsed&sb=5&o=2&vc=1#Post210528>Nice look</A> thread, "<font color=red>That will be put back soon.</font color=red>" Just a temporary artifact of the transition.

I also recall from a long ago message, most folks never log out. I know I don't.

Glad to see a picture of a grown up tractor. Gives me some perspective. Whatcha do with all that power? You growin' crops on that 20 acres?

Like the others said, just make sure your browser is set to allow cookies (my Opera is set to disallow third party cookies, and it still works fine.) I'm not even sure I remember my password for this site.. and I access from both home and work ... using both Linux and Windows.

As for the rest, where else can you find this kind of knowledge and experience and help for free??? Or, for that matter, even for a price?? /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Yup, Yup. I agree with everyone else. Don't log off and you'll be just fine. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I'll add one more reason to stay with TBN. How many other sites will welcome and encourage people who technically don't even meet the basic qualifications of the site? I don't even own a garden tractor, let alone a CUT or a 105 hp Ford. Not once has anyone ever criticized or blasted me for participating in the discussions, whatever they might be. Sure, I'm planning on buying a tractor in the future. But in most circumstances, a lot of people wouldn't even give a guy like me the time of day because we're not owners or knowledgeable. Not on TBN! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

That's reason enough to stick around in my book! /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
