I dont know about you, but I wouldn't jump onto that from the side when it was moving with the cab doors shut. One slip or bump (like a curb or a car) and you would be getting an R1 design imprinted into your body.

I would crawl in the back window, but not the side.

:laughing:I spend a lot of time around those machines. I guess, I take my familiarity for granted. The back window latches from the inside. Jump on the right step, pop the door(hope it's not locked), and flip the key. I've stopped several runaways, never a model with a LH reverser, though. That had to be intentional.

Did it say the key was in it?

I have a key for that tractor, as does most of this guys competition.

Is that a common thing for JD tractors, to all have the same ignition key. I was taking tractors for a test drive at the local JD dealership. I started on one (5075E I believe) and then went back to the saleperson to ask if I could take the 5075M sitting next to it for a ride. He said sure, go ahead and gave me an odd look when I just stood there. I was standing there assuming that he had to go get the key for the 5075M. So I asked if I could get the key and he responding with a look and tone like don't you know, they all use the same key. I didn't test drive any JD tractors after that (ending up going with kubota), but often wondered about that.

Its not just JD. Many equipment companys use the same key for their machines.
At work I carry a spare Case key. I've started many differant Case skid steers and backhoes with that 1 key.
There is a good chance your Kubota is the same way.
I went to my Kioti dealer years ago and asked for an extra key. Dealer reached in a drawer of keys and handed me a spare.

Once had a tennant who drove flatbed truck moving heavy equipment around the country. When he left he gave me a key ring that had a key for almost every make of construction and farm equipment. They would often show up at a jobsite to pick up a machine in the wee small hours. With their own keys they could be gone in 1/2hr, if they had to find a watchman to track down the key they could be four hours....

I don't see how it could run. Even if you started it with a key, put it in gear, and managed to get out. Even my mower will safety switch stop once your weight leaves the seat. My small Kubota is the same way. I can't imagine a big tractor like this not having a operator safety seat switch.

This video had also been posted in the Safety forum and the seat switch question had been brought up.
Unlike the CUT manuals, there is no mention of the seat switch or test procedure (basically, stand up) in the larger utility tractors.
So, I doubt if there is a seat switch in the larger machines. I cannot believe a corporation would allow any such disabling or bypassing of a safety device. The liability would not be worth the "convenience".

Frankly, I see little need for a seat switch in the UTs either. These machines are marketed to folks who know equipment...unlike a CUT which is marketed to folks who may have no experience in operating equipment safely (so the "nanny" regs are necessary).

A safety switch in these tractors would be more danger than it was worth.
