Dick you are from my stomping grounds...ever heard of Marietta Ohio ?
It says a lot about a man, the amount of friends he has and the (might I say ) the caliber/type of people he circles himself with, and you will not find any better friends than right here on TBN. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Dick you da man, keep rockin bro. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Glad you're back Dick! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It's nice to see a situation where guys don't let differences get in the way of being friends, or even just acquantances. I've always enjoyed your comments, even if I didn't necessarily agree with all of them! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was born in Beverly, Ohio. I grew up 10 miles out of Marietta, on a farm, a place called Sugar Run. Are you from that country, Old_Hickory????

/ What happened to... #44
I am not to far from there Dick,
I know exactly where Beverly Ohio is,Barlow,Waterford,Veto,Cutler,Dexter City,Churchtown.
Sugar Run,sounds familiar but I can not place it at the moment.

Sugar Run lays half way between Kaywood and Stanleyville. Say did you know that the Ohio postage stamp has the Clyde Knoch farm on it this year? That is about 1/2 mile from Stanleyville. He is my second Cousin. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Say Old_Hickory, I didn't even know that there was that many people that knew I even existed, let along cared one way or the other.

Yep...we know sincere guys when we see them, I think... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

We might not all agree with each of our views, but convictions are convictions and when one is consistant in what he believes others notice and remember. At least that is what I think...

Now Dick, if you just owned a Kubota... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm glad Dick's back. But I just assumed he was out shopping for a FWD tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now that just will never happen, not in this life time. Of course since I was on here before, I turned 70 years old, so who knows how long this life time is. Probably don't have much over another 50 years to go. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I know about where you are from Dick.
The stamp, that is very interesting I will have to check it out.

You forgot Bartlett, Ohio! I had an aunt who lived there, after selling her farm on the road to Cutler. I had another aunt who lived WAY over in the BIG city- Nelsonville. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Now we are speaking of some really BIG cities here. Any one of them, if you blink your eye, kind of slow, you might go through them and not see them. LOL I miss them, but life goes on. And they have all changed so much, from the time I lived there. Marietta, isn't anything like it was, when I was young. If one could have come from it then and just be dropping in it now, you wouldn't know where you were, its that different.

Not much left in Bartlett anymore. A couple of houses, a small store, a church, and the cemetery. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

We used to go down to a flea market on Memorial Day weekend in Reinersville, about halfway between Beverly and Caldwell, but it was always so muddy. It isn't worth the drive now that's there's no one left down that way to visit anymore.

I used to spend a lot of time in the Parkersburg area and I got to know all the towns off of I-77 pretty good- Macksburg, Lower Salem, Belle Valley, Caldwell, Byesville, etc. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It's a wonderful area to live in, but I was never able to find any decent work down there. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

You guys missed some of the important towns around there. Like Moss Run, some of my relations had a saw mill there around 1800. After they moved there from Pruntytown, WV. And Whipple, it was given to the Revolutionary war vets, as payment for their services. And Warner, if I remember right, Connie Smith was born there. And I could go on and on, but won't, at least not for now.

Now we're getting W-A-Y off topic! But I guess since this thread IS about Dick, it's his call on what the topic actually is. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Connie Smith, now that gal can sing! I'm only 30, but she's still one of my favorites. All the early stuff she did on RCA, with Weldon Myrick playing steel guitar (what a sound!), are all classics! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I'd like to find a good collection of some of her gospel stuff she did on Columbia in the early 70's, but I don't think anything like that has ever been released on CD, and the records are kinda hard to find. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Haven't seen a post from Dick since 12/30

Old Hickory--
Are you staying dry down there? I was just reading in the Parkersburg News that the Ohio River was three feet above flood stage, and has hit Marietta and Belpre pretty hard. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif It also says that the Muskingum River is flooding out Beverly and Lowell too!

/ What happened to... #58
I am high on the hill so I am dry.
I had not realized it had rained so much until Weds. morning I was driving to work about 5:00 a.m and I was going through Belpre Ohio and I could see the lights reflecting off of the water in the fields.I am glad I do not live in a low area,it is bad enough to have a flood, but then the temps drops to the teens and you have single digit wind chill factors on top of the flood problems.
The old Ohio River is a pretty intimidating beast when it floods.

I'll get back on, one of these days. My wife had kidney failure and was in the hospital for 10 days. She just got out yesterday and I have a pretty good job taking care of her right now. Probably will have a job for some time to come. But I'll get back as I can. Thanks for caring.

Sorry to hear about your wife's illness, Dick. Hope all goes well for both of you.
