What happened to the " I still hate my tractor thread"?

We had a shop party last night so my M9540 sat outside overnight. Temp was 9 degrees this morning when I cranked it. Let the glow plugs cycle and hit the starter. Started about the 4th or 5th compression stroke. Wasn't happy about it, but started. That was the first time I've tested this tractor, it's got a spoiled life in a heated shop.

i have removed myself from forums that were over moderated I hope this doesn't become one of those.

It's just an observation, but having participated in forums for a lot of years now I can't recall any forum that declined due to lack of interest. But I can think of several very popular and seemingly robust ones that fell apart due to over-moderation.

One of those was moderated by a buddy of mine and he still can't figure out what went wrong.....
enjoy!

The other thing I thought about was holding the shutdown lever on the pump closed then crank the engine and slowly release the lever. It's almost like there is a bit too much fuel at first.

You guys are killing me again.

Had a 6-71 we used to start like that. Build a little heat and compression before sending in a charge of fuel. Helped quite a bit.
