What gauge wire should I use to rewire my YM2000..??

I'm taking about the accessories like headlights, sending units ETC not the starter....

If mine, I would use the same gauge as original. That should work just fine.

Do a quick AMPERAGE calculation.

A "sender" might need a half an amp tops..... 22 ga. would be more than enough.

tail lights at 25 watts, that is 2 amps
Headlamps at 55 watts (X2?) 10 amps. That's up in the 16-14 ga, territory.

Consult wire size charts and amp draw specs for details!

No factory harness is all the same size for those reasons. Ultimately, size is determined by amperage draw and fused according to wire size.

I used to wire aircraft.
If you really want a 'one size fits all' then I'd go 16 g but always protect based on wire size and not current draw.

OEM's usually like color for easy foolproof assembly and use the smallest size needed to save $$'s.
Aviation likes to wire stamp to identify each wire.
A tractor cares less about weight and U probably don't want to buy 12 different spools of color wire nor different sizes.

Go the good old way, all white #16 and use masking tape to identify both ends of your wire.

Once re wired use tie wraps to bundle your harness and make sure it doesn't chafe anywhere, use whatever means to isolate wires from abrasion on tractor parts.(stand offs, tie wraps, grommets etc)

10 amp fuse or breaker would protect from fire hazards on 16 g wire.
Fuse or breaker is not there to protect the instruments or other device its job is fire protection!

I think the answer is: What is the fuse size that protects it?
If you don't like that answer, then: How many amps is it carrying?

Maybe I don't understand the question but I have been rewiring various equipment for over 50 years and always used what the factory used. If it lasted long enough to go bad it must be correct.

The other thing equally important is buy a variety pack with different colors - so you can trace circuits next time you have to look at the wiring.
