What is it?
Looks a bit like a rake hoe for firefighting but too small.

The Beta version of a string trimmer.:)

Steve

PS We used to call them "grass slings," but that may be a regional term.

We keep one of those around. Sometimes I'll use it instead of the gas weed wacker when I want some brainless exercising chore-time outside. Kind of like splitting wood by hand instead of using the gas splitter. You can work up a really nice sweat with that tool, and it's great for building up some calluses on your hands as well.

Works pretty decent on course stalk weeds. A goat or something works a lot better on grass.

We called them Yo-Yo's Actually still have one, prefer to use the scythe though.

I have one I got from my Dad; I've used it a couple of times in the last 20 or so years...it's not nearly worn out!

Buckeye,

Wonder if you still have the tobiano paint in your avatar? Mare or Gelding?. Will post a photo of my mare as an edit. She likes to roll in the mud and still has some winter coat. When she does roll it is always all the way over.
