What engine do I have

I just bought a Ford 2000 tractor. From what I can tell it's a 1968. It has a 3 cyl gas engine and I am looking to start rebuilding her but I kind of need to know what size engine before I start buying anything let alone the engine rebuild kit. The data plate is still there under the hood. How can I figure out what engine I have? Any help ya'll can give me would be great.

if a 3 cyl gas it should be a 158ci with a 4.2 bore

all before ordering any rings make sure the cylinders haven't been bored out since these motors do not have any sleeves from the factory

Thanks for the info and the link. I thought it was a 158ci. I know that I still need to mesure the bore to confirm but at this point anything that old I'm kind of in the dark as to where to get specs. Any sugestions as to where to get parts? I found Yesterdays Tractor and they have a good selection but are there any other sites in addition to them that are worth a look?

your local dealer should beable to get a after market engine kit

ebay has some on it

as has been sugested.. take a look inside before ordering anything.

\never know what it might have for pistons or liners at this point.

also never know about the crank.. may already be turned max and useing max bearings... etc.

machine shop doing the checking can help here..
