I was told that Mint oil (whatever, variation Spearmint or Peppermint) was very heavy. The only info. I could find ,MSDS had the specific gravity like .9 which is lighter than water, I think. What does a gallon of mint oil weigh in pounds? When being initially distilled does it separate by floating on water or sinking? Any Mint farmers out there? bjr

If the specific gravity is .9, the mint oil would weigh 7.2 lbs/gal. If you have the right still, you would get just the oil. Some of the other setups can't produce a pure product for some reason. They produce a hydrosol which is an oil/water mix.

My experience is dated so maybe there's some new developments for small scale use.
