I like the wife's credit card idea the best..if you spill some...no big deal, just grab the card and go get more.:)

Obviously your finances are not set up like mine. When my wife tells me to pay the credit cards off, "her" card and "OUR" card all get paid from the same account. Go Figure?

Gee, with all these clever approaches, plumbing and pumping clevernesses, and heartfelt testimonials of assurance of "my way is the best", I almost want to sell my overhead tank, stop getting deliveries, and start building some kind of system along the lines described here (or go back to pouring from cans.)

I better hurry because when Hillary or ***** Obama get elected they may repeal the law of gravity (or just modify it beyond reason or recognition) and my overhead pumpless gravity system may not work right.

Pat ;) ;)

And I should ask about the filters used. Is there a higher tendency for debris in diesel, hence the paper filters, or is that just prudent due to collection of dirt on the outside of cans?

This is why I use what I use. I use 5 gal yellow tractor hydralic oil buckets. I take the tops off and clean the buckets out after I empty them. The pull out spout is alittle cheesey but no real problems. I really like being able to clean out the bucket. Thats my problem with fuel cans is that no matter how clean I try to be dirt and whatever always finds it's way inside.

This would fit in well and work great with the 5 gallon buckets and you wouldn't have to lift and pour from the buckets.
