What Do You Use For Anti Skid and How Do You Spread & Store it?

My driveway is flat. I only use wood ash in the spring to help melt the hard packed snow from the winter. Seeing as I heat with wood, I have a never ending supply of ash.
Depends on the winter. Maybe you're far enough north not to get the melt/freeze cycles we've been getting here (or every other storm being rain, only to drop well below freezing afterwards). You go thru a lot of sand/ash/cinders in a winter like that.

Biggest downsides to woodstove ash are (1) it tracks badly and (2) it's so fine that if you try to spread it on a windy day half of it goes sideways instead of where you want it.
