Trailer, 18' (16' flat, 2' dove/beaver tail). tandom axle 12,000 trailer hooked up to the Torq lift super-hitch.

If I had known I was getting as big of a tractor as I did I would have gotten a 28'-30' gooseneck. When I bought my trailer a year or so before the tractor we were looking for 2-5 acres.

Truck, 2003 Dodge dually 1-ton quad cab, with the Cummins and exhaust brake.

That's a great looking rig Dave, and a great looking tractor too. The truck used by my dealer (from MO to So. Cal) used a Dodge like yours to deliver the tractor to me. The 55hp Kama 454 had loader and backhoe mounted and he also had a 6' boxblade, 6' brush hog and PHD on the trailer. Not only that, he had already dropped off some other equipment to another ranch before he came to me!

Thanks Rob. Only recently have we had such a nice rig. When I started the business I used my wife's 1987 Suburban, toasting the transmission. Then on to an old 1977 GMC 1 ton with a 454 with 200k miles. I worked on it as much as drove it, then to a 1989 F350 with a Banks turbo. After several automatics were replaced in the Ford, we just recently decided it was time to upgrade. So far, so good with the Dodge. After driving old stuff for so long, it's a real treat.

Just purchased a Ram 3500 Mega Cab. Trailer is an 18' International (I believe) 10,000# with a weight of 3,000# if I remember correctly. Only wish is that I purchased a longer trailer. Fitting the CK30 on with a brushhog doesnt leave much room to properly weight the trailer, or much room for anyhting for that matter, hog wheel sits between the ramps:)

The SRT10 was started after the Ford Lightning(right name?), which was Fords idea of a performance truck. It was the fast sport truck out there till Dodge dumped a V10 Viper motor in the Ram1500/SRT10.

You could tow with it. It's got over 500hp ;-)

Dave, real nice set up. Like I said in my post if I had known how big of a tractor I was getting, I would have gotten a set up like yours.

Towing loads like that on a regular basis, have you considered an exhaust brake?

Steve, I have considered the brake. It will be the first significant upgrade. I've left the truck stock so far. Any suggestions?

Well, you people have some nice rigs. I thought I had this thing kinda figured out. I was thinking that I could use a cattle trailer or that I would get a 20+5 flat bed for hauling my TC25 and building supplies. Money is a big issue for me so I thought I could double duty the Cattle trailer and just have my building supplies delivered. Not really what I want to do though.

Y'all have given me some real good ideas. I never considered Car Haulers but now I kind of like the Car Haulers because they are low to the ground. I'm not afraid of heights or anything like that but I am a safety concious person. I want a Flat Bed Deck Over because I feel that it will haul more building and ranch supplies. Might be safer over all the flat bed way too. Except for the Longhorns.:D

I'm going to have to rethink this whole trailer thing.
I thank you all for the photos and the ideas. :)

With the carhauler deck beside the fenders, a forklift would have a hard time setting a pallet between the fenders. Also, the fenders themselves are likely candidates for damage.

I prefer the load lower than where a deckover puts it. Way too high. Unloading a tractor from a deckover would be brutal without a tilt bed or major dovetail.

I agree fenders are a major interference for stuff = lumber, concrete blocks etc.

If a tractor tire hits an inner fender wheel well when loading or unloading it can rub and quickly slit the tire inner sidewall. Not repairable

Highbeam,
I agree. Is there a happy medium? I want to load with a fork lift but at the same time I don't want to climb Everest in my tractor either. That's why I am thinking a 5' dovetail with ramps would be a good thing to have. I just don't trust ramps especially if they are wet or uneven a bit.
I suppose I could have a trailer custom made for a small phenomenal fee. There is a custom shop not far from me and their trailers are top notch.
The good news is that I am not in a super big hurry to spend the money so I have time to look and research.

A 5' dovetail with fold down ramps is a piece of cake, not scary at all. My new trailer has "pierced frame" construction, allowing a 5" lower deck. I think it is about 32" to the top of the deck.

Just noticing your combination. I have the 01, high output Cummins in a 3/4 ton quad cab. Just ordered a BD exhaust brake and will change the air inlet system this weekend, providing the parts come in.... I have a bumper pull (pintle hitch) 12,000 gvw, Bri-Mar that I haul a Kubota L 48 TLB with.. We have several real steep pulls here, ( 27-9%) grades,,, the Cummins can pull all day. Just can't stop very well, thus the new exhaust brake addition..

To Marine1,
H&H trailer has removable fenders. I have them on mine. See pics. Makes side loading a breeze. Mine is also a tilt bed so no need for ramps.

I tow with a 2004 Dodge 3500 SRW 6 speed with the cummins and a Prodigy?? brake controller and an exhaust brake. I have three trailers- a car trailer aluminum with removable fenders 17' deck ( a little light for the BH) A gooseneck 24' deckover with the last 4 feet being the pop up dovetail, And a mistake- a 16' deckover dump trailer with ramps. Heaviest I had it up to was with the gooseneck flatbed. I had a deere model 400?? or 410 yellow backhoe ( old) GCVW weighed in just under CDL 24,260. My JD 4600 is much lighter and within the 23,000 tow rating. The gooseneck dump trailer is nice but a mistake. I thought that I could leave front impements over the neck, but when bringing the machhine back off with a chipperr or a backhoe it can get interesting. The deck is flat metal to let the dirt slide. Muddy R-4 tires slide on mud like they are greased -on painted sheet metal. All this 4' up in the air. So it is just a dump trailer now not an equipment hauler.
