Disc Harrow What do you think these discs are worth?

Don't have any input on the original post, but the information in this thread on different discs and how they work has been great. Was thinking about disc's today and trying to pick up a used one, very helpful.

I'm in the camp that is not 100% down on that set of discs. They are useful for someone, and I've seen a LOT worse sets for more than 400 bucks. If I were you, I would get a heavier set if you can afford it. That set is a steal for someone at 250-300 dollars and probably fair at 400. Around here, anyway. My dad gave me a set of discs when I put in my 4 acre yard. I broke about 10 pans and basically destroyed the ancient angle iron frame. It still tilled the earth for me. AND I sold the free disc for 100 bucks.

I'm in the same boat as Fried1765 and posted my experience with my recently acquired field cultivator and a homemade drag for food plotting. I also have the tiller but wanted to get away from using it. I've used the cultivator enough already to know it is going be be great for my needs. My soil is "average" with some rocks and a few stumps and the cultivator works fine and leaves furrows that can either be leveled with a drag or harrow or you could run over it with the tiller but that seems overkill. I think you could cultivate and drag and be perfectly happy with the results. I try to buy my food plotting tools by placing a "wanted" ad on Craigslist with a picture and a ball park price. It's worked very well.
